Tennessee is willing to double Mike Gundy’s salary ($4.2M), according to multiple reports.

$8.4M would make Gundy the third-highest paid coach in CFB.

what's funny about that is, if this was a legit option to begin with....how in the hell did we wait til this point to get here?

you coulda started here. jeez. :eek:lol:

I personally think he could be trying to get another raise. I'm skeptical of any qualified winning coach giving us a consideration :eek:lol:

We are rapidly approaching a moment of truth (a la Strangelove). The closer we get to the early signing date , the closer Hoke is to being permanent. Sad but true.

When you screw up the coaching search, you have to pay for it somehow.

Only offering coaches who will turn us down, so they can point at and blame the fans. Gundy might be a good hire, but he just extended! They are going out of their way to look bad! Funny though, going after a coach that used to play for the Program that employs him! Call Tee, if not, call Lane and let's go win some games.

I will believe that Tennessee is going to pay a coach $8.4 million when I see it. They have already shown that they were trying to get Greg Schiano from the Clearance Sale aisle, and now may be paying him damages for breaching the MOU. But now they're supposed to be backing up the Brinks truck to Gundy?

Hope I'm wrong.

OKST fans on their message boards seem to be fed up with Gundy doing this every couple of years.

Also, an OKST reporter seems to think this is serious.

maybe. but honestly, i think for Gundy, it's not about money from TN. sure he'll take more from OSU if he can get it.

if we have really offered him over $8m and he turns it down....

mercy. at this point, we've moved all our chips on the table. and i'm not sure we're holding a winning hand.

and if he does turn it down, you wait and see how much we have to pay for a guy none of us want...again..:eek:lol:

Oh lawd. How about making the same offer to Shaw or Patterson?

I understand not being happy about Schiano. But now Gundy isn't good enough and especially after the sh*t show the top brass at UT has pulled? Gundy has had as many 10 win seasons since 2010 as UT since 1998. We should be thrilled that anybody would talk to us since yesterday not too mention a coach of his caliber.

Mike Gundy is a very good coach. Questions about the defensive side of the ball, but he'd have the resources to make the right hires.

I'd be a bit concerned about the insane amount of money they are offering. Though, more concerned on the "buyout side" than merely the salary. And why weren't they willing to offer that "insane amount of money" to Mullen? Nevertheless, it would be a reasonable hire. The guy has won consistently at a program that has was never great historically before he arrived. I do wonder how his offense will translate to the SEC, but he's also shown an ability to adapt.

If we go from that debacle that we just had and get a guy like Mike Gundy, you can consider that a monster hire. I have mad respect for him as a coach, regardless of the hair. Guy is a winner and his players will run through walls for him, unlike our previous coaches lately.

And don't hate on the mullet. The mullet is never the issue, it's the man it's attached to that can't pull it off. :)

Currie looking to save his job.

We really can't believe everything we hear/read. I have no inside information, but if anyone really thinks we reached out to or interviewed Cutcliffe or Gundy, no, just no. We wouldn't reach out to unrealistic or unwanted people.

& this business about Matt Campbell being out of play, who knows if we've talked to him. This whole thing has been extremely private. No one knows anything other than our dip**** yes people admin (president, AD) & prominent boosters.

Most of the people being "thrown out" in stupid tweets by stupid journalists now are just wild baseless speculation. No one knows where our attention is. Right now, I wouldn't be surprised if we haven't reached out to anyone. I would be willing to bet there's a lot of people locked in a room trying to sort out the turmoil, trying to figure out how to leverage which power brokers need to be quieted, & try to figure out a unified efficient manner in which to move forward.

Like I said, "concerns", but he's always shown an ability to adapt. I'd be happy with the hire, though. That said, we've seen this story several times already. Gundy is an OK State alum. Every time, T. Boone Pickens gives him a raise and he says "I'm very happy to be at OK State." I still suspect he's angling for another raise.
