I'm probably going to RMA mine. It seemed off first time I tried it. Strum bar was pitiful. Hit like 70-80%. Switched to the Les Paul and hit 90+% on everything.
I'd like to get a working one. It looks cool and I'd like to try the sound effects and solo buttons.
EDIT:
So, I went to the support website. Very nice. Created an account. Selected a bad guitar strum bar. Clicked to get a new one. Give them my CC and they 2-day air you a new one with pre-printed slip to mail yours back. You have 28 days to get yours back to them before you'recharged. Sounds fair enough to me. They even give you the tracking number and rma number instantly on screen once your finished. Took all of 5 minutes.
Filled out an RMA request on Tuesday at 12:30 am (two days ago). Replacement is on a truck to be delivered today. Not bad service. I hear lots of folks that RMA'ed the first day or two still haven't seen any updates on their replacements.
.I ordered a replacement guitar on the 21st and picked 2nd day shipping. After waiting over a week with my UPS tracking info saying "Billing Information Received" in got a email last night.
Greetings Rocker,
Congratulations on your purchase of Rock Band!
After reviewing our records, we see that your recent request for a replacement guitar has been subject to an unacceptably long delay due to a late shipment from our manufacturer.
By the time you receive this, your replacement guitar should be on its way to you. However, the Rock Band team is committed to providing a world-class customer experience and we do not believe we have met this commitment in connection with your request. As a token of our appreciation for your patience and understanding, we will be offering you a FREE EA game. Details will follow shortly.
We are sorry if your first experience with Rock Band has not met your expectations. We hope our gift will show you how committed we are to your satisfaction.
Thank you,
The Rock Band Team
Update.
After the original guitar lasted less than 6hrs. on medium the strum would either double or not recognize. I ordered a replacement 2nd day on the 21st......IT TOOK OVER TWO WEEKS TO GET THE REPLACEMENT:realmad:. When I get the replacement the first thing I did was open it up to see if they sent me one of the new models, nope I got another p.o.s.:banghead2: I noticed right away the frets were clicky and the overdrive was next to impossible to activate and the strum only lasted 2hrs. So I send the original back and order another replacement (not express) and they send me the replacement box in three days.
As far as the free game goes I got this email Sat. night. I haven't gotten anything saying which games I can choose from and I'm already reading post from people who have gotten their free game.
EA can kiss my :shaking2:
Best thing you can do is throw the rock band guitar away and use the wireless one from GH3.
Hi Everyone,
As we have said in the past, Harmonix and MTV Games believe in an open standard philosophy of hardware and game compatibility. We think that there should be interoperability between music instrument controllers across all music games. This is clearly in the best interest of consumers, game developers and console manufacturers and will only help to grow the music game genre as well as inspire innovation and creativity.
Two weeks ago, Harmonix created a software patch for the Sony PLAYSTATION 3 version of Rock Band that allowed for guitar compatibility and support for third party peripherals, including enabling use of Activision's Guitar Hero III controller with Rock Band. The compatibility patch was submitted, approved and had been scheduled for release by Sony on Tuesday, December 4. Unfortunately, Activision objected to the compatibility patch's release. The patch remains with Sony, but we have been told that it will unfortunately not be released due to Activision's continued objection.
As is the case with the Microsoft Xbox360, we believe that Sony PLAYSTATION 3 users should be able to use the peripheral of their choice with Rock Band. We sincerely hope that Activision will reverse its decision and allow release of the compatibility patch and further, that Activision will allow Guitar Hero III to support Rock Band guitar controllers as well. We welcome all third party developers who wish to support our controllers and will provide any required support in order for them to do so.
We believe that when consumers have choice, everyone wins. Harmonix and MTV Games hope that Activision and others will also adopt this philosophy.
Sincerely,
The Harmonix Team
Harmonix: Blame Activision for PS3 Rock Band guitar issues
After Harmonix's valid attempt at easing tensions over PS3 guitar compatibility issues for Rock Band, the time for détente between MTV/Harmonix's Rock Band and Activision/Red Octane's Guitar Hero is over. Harmonix has issued a detailed statement saying the company created a patch for Guitar Hero controllers to be compatible with Rock Band on PS3, but that Activision blocked Sony from releasing the patch.
Harmonix reiterates in the statement that it believes in an "open standard philosophy of hardware and game compatibility." The company says that such a policy is in the interest of consumers, game developers and console manufacturers and "will only help to grow the music game genre as well as inspire innovation and creativity." Harmonix says that on Tuesday, December 4 it was ready to release a patch approved by Sony so that Guitar Hero controllers would be compatible with Rock Band, but that Activision objected to the release and now Sony is holding onto the patch due to Activision's "continued objection." The full statement from Harmonix can be found after the break. The ball is now quite publicly in Activision's court.
Just bought RB x360 at a local Walmart. I'm hoping there aren't any issues with the guitar, there's a disclaimer on the box stating that if you have any problems with any of the peripherals don't return it to the store, contact EA directly. Was that on the original box? If not, then hopefully they are shipping the improved guitar controllers now.
Sticker was on the launch unit I bought.
EA has been good about swapping instruments. There was a problem with the first batch that RMA'ed immediately, but the system seems to be working fine now. If something is broke, only takes a few minutes on their site to get a new one.
do the newer/replacement guitars have a rather numb feeling strum bar? the one I have just moves up and down without any clicks, unlike the Red Octane controllers.
I finished the drums on medium earlier and now I'm going back and redoing it on hard. Very fun game.
