Official Nashville Predators Thread

Seth Jones will be an absolute stud in the NHL. With Weber, the Preds will have two of the best Dmen in the NHL within three years

We have one of the two best defensemen in the NHL and one of the best young/up and coming defensemen as well. And now we have another absolute beast to add to them in Jones. We are going to have one of the best defenses (if not the best) in the NHL when he makes it to Nashville. I know everyone wanted a goal scorer but preds hockey starts and ends with defense. We're so lucky to have Jones fall to us.

F it. We can get a forward via free agency.

Unreal that Jones slid to the 4th spot.

Not sure how much activity that Nashville will have in Free Agency this year. I would be surprised if they went above the 54.5M in salary for the year so they can still get that big chunk of league revenue sharing.

Wow, didn't know his dad is Popeye Jones. His dad is from Tn! I remember him playing at Murray St. Loved it when they would play TSU. The crowd would sing "The fat boys are back".

I think he will be exponentially better than Josi ever will.

Josi is one of the best young defensemen in the NHL and that's not just an opinion. I agree that Jones has the potential to be even better, but that's no knock on Josi because as a sophmore in the NHL he filled in for Suter very well (and as you know that's saying something). Jones just has the potential to be an elite/franchise type of player. Either way our top 3 defensemen are going to be amazing and the backbone of our team. The future is bright in Smashville my friends!

I thought Josi did an admirable job filling some huge shoes. I also believe Defense was a big issue for this team last year. Too many pucks turned over right in front of the net. I don't have a problem going D with the first pick, especially when the guy is as talented as this one.

How is that NOT an opinion? He's serviceable, but definitely not one of the best young defensemen in the NHL. Cam Fowler, Drew Doughty, Del Zotto, and a few others are much more talented IMO than Josi. He's a good 2nd line defensemen

Sorry, I meant to say "and that's not just my opinion." My bad. I guess we have a different definition of serviceable though. And I say it's not just my opinion because David Poile had the same thing to say about him. I know he's our GM and is going to talk highly of his players but I believe he was being genuine when he said it. Here's the article which he said he's one of the best young defensemen in the NHL (so you don't think I'm just BSing):

Jones is a good pickup, but the Preds still need some offense. Hopefully, they'll get it via free agency or a trade. Josi has to be looking over his shoulder now.

He's been showing out internationally this summer and just signed a 7 year deal here.

Ellis and Blum are the ones sweating now.

Nash has signed Viktor Stalberg and Matt Cullen. Stalberg is a solid signing, he'll replace SK. Meh on Cullen.
