Official Nashville Predators Thread

Are we gonna be good this season? I'm not into it enough yet to pay attention to all our offseason acquisitions.

Drafted arguably the best defensive player to come out in years in Jones. The biggest acquisition was Viktor Stalberg from Chicago.

He's young with speed to burn and good offensive upside. Matt Cullen is a savvy vet with pretty decent speed too.

The line of Cullen, Stalberg, and Wilson has a chance to be good this year if it sticks.

D is sick, struggles on offense will likely continue.

Idk, I think they'll be better. Forsberg will have a full year, Wilson & Borque will both be healthy after missing most of last year. The potential is still there for Smith if he can ever put all the pieces together.

Stalberg will definitely help and Cullen will too.

big turnout this afternoon, guess that $7 tickets thing isn't even helping

14: Nashville Predators

The number that jumps out is the 5.83 given to the owner/GM/coach. The duo of GM David Poile and coach Barry Trotz are generally regarded as one of the best in the NHL, and they've been able to consistently keep this franchise competitive despite conservative payrolls. But the Predators are still looking for that long playoff run and the elusive Stanley Cup that would solidify their reputation. And among the voters, there was a wide disparity in their views, with management getting as high as a 9 by one voter and as low as a 4 from others.

In recent seasons, ownership has shown a willingness to spend, with huge deals given to Pekka Rinne and Shea Weber, as well as a competitive offer for former Predators defenseman Ryan Suter. But even with that, the Predators' payroll is still just No. 24 in the NHL, which may have influenced the voters' decision when evaluating ownership's future willingness to spend.
