Official Lane Kiffin thread 1

He took a better job. Our ineptitude for the last eight years isn’t his fault.

If you think we would have been better off had he stayed, you probably think he’s a good coach.
USC thought he was a better coach too and we see how that turned out. If he cant win at USC why do people think he can win here? Honest question. He has only made it to 2 bowl games and lost both of them. Hell even Butch won bowl games. Get real people

At some point Kiffin becomes the closest thing to the next Spurrier. We missed out on Spurrier by one lousy year. He went to Florida because we were still running the single wing offense which we ditched the next year.

Somewhere in the next couple of years Kiffin will be rolling. Imo of course.

Why should we worry about the media. ... Wake the hell up. The media doesn't care about us .... Just win baby. To hell with what others think.

Kiffin will bring the players, the swag, and the wins.
Kiffin to Tennessee.

Hurt feelings?? SO, we are no longer holding him accountable for leaving in the middle of the night and basically giving UT the middle finger? I know we are in a bad situation but hiring him back could make it worse. You know like it did the first time. JMO

Yes. What you just described is classic butt hurt. He's not to blame for the sh!t show in Knoxville, Haslam is. IMO he couldn't make it any worse and I'll go one further, he'd be crazy to come back here and work for Haslam.

Ok, so I merged a bunch of the Kiffin threads to reduce the number of different threads for the same discussions.

If yours was merged, I apologize, but it had to be done, and I'm not merging my thread because there has to be some benefit to running this place and putting up with all of you knuckleheads. :)

So true. We've lost so much. And now a significant segment of our fan base wants to give up our dignity, too. It's just unbelievable that any true VFL would beg for that loser to come back. It's downright embarrassing.

you should go be a fan of Vandy or better still Bama
then your suffering and embarrassment would be over

you could puff your chest out and be proud

but leave us vol fans alone

He was to blame for the last 8 years but not anymore.. OK. At the beginning of the year people would have laughed at the idea of bringing him back and saying he is part of the reason where in this mess..But its your story

Are you old enough to remember the last time Kiffin was the coach at UT? Ask someone how that worked out for us.

:thud::thud::thud::thud:

I remember that time very well.
He took a team with very little talent and won. He turned Jon Crompton into something resembling a quarterback. The '09 team was fun to watch and it appeared that the future was bright.
Kiffin told Hamilton before he was hired that if USC ever came calling, he was gone. Hamilton took a "yeah right" attitude, so he was completely unprepared when Kiffin bolted.

The blame for everything rests at Hamilton's feet. He screwed up the Fulmer firing, he didn't have proper protections written into Lane's contract and then, when he knew he was grossly unprepared to hire a coach, made a panic hire with Dooley.

Kiffin to Tennessee.

You want Kiffin and are telling people to wake up? Twitter hype doesn't make a good coach. Lane has proven again and again that he fails without adult supervision.

Bringing in Briles would make us look like huge hypocrits after the Schiano fiasco due to the trouble he is attached to at Baylor. If Kiffin comes he cant bring Briles.

We lose either way In the media's eye. Who cares. You want to win?

He won at USC with a depleted roster from NCAA sanctions.

Kiffin's name was brought up at the Knoxville QB Club yesterday. Hyams asked how many people in the room wanted Kiffin. Less than 5 people raised their hands and they quickly put them down.

The old folks and old money understand loyalty and Kiffin has none. He is not the answer.

Look at the circumstances at USC. He still won a lot of games there.

Ok. We construct the contract in our favor. Yes, I don't care what the media thinks or says. I want "W's".

Lane Kiffin Timeline:

O-Hour -- Get offered a job by Tennessee (or any other Power 5 school).
O-Hour + 30 seconds -- arrive at university offices ready to sign.
O-Hour + 5 minutes -- begin scoping out co-eds.
O-Hour + 3 hours -- hold initial team meeting; mention other schools' traditions constantly.
O-Hour + 2 days -- first NCAA violation.
O-Hour + 9 days -- piss off first big-money booster by screwing his wife.
O-Hour + 11 days -- piss off second big-money booster by tweeting about his daughter.
O-Hour + 15 days -- first major recruiting violation (not discovered until after fired).
O-Hour + 16 days -- second and third major violations ( " ").
O-Hour + 23 days -- leaves for Baylor, his "dream job".

No thanks. Do not want. Dude's a walking disease.

Although I would support a Kiffin hire, I'll admit I laughed WAY too hard at this. :lolabove:

kinda reminds me of the Trump vote, no one would say they would vote for Trump in public but it was a different story at the polls. Lane Train!
