Official Jon Gruden Thread XXVI

It would be interesting if Bev is on board (due to the VC $ going to academics) and Currie is the holdup because Big Jim doesn't want Gruden. Bev is Currie's boss, right? Bev may be the final say in all this. And as Beav mentioned, she's been offered a deal she couldn't turn down if she wanted to.

Still completely baffles me how one man has so much power amongst a large group of power-hungry people.

Everyone is wired differently.
Every group has to have a leader.

Most do not want the burden of being in charge. EVERYONE constantly hounding you from all sides, everyone asking you for something.

Most leaders stay in charge until their leadership goes against the ideals of the entire group.

What was Richmond’s excuse. Poor Kendrick is out there playing with a concussion and Richmond is whiffing on everyone that runs towards him

Basillio said Richmond had a concussion as well.

"Not only did Kendrick suffer a concussion Saturday night but so did Drew Richmond tonybasilio.com has learned."

I might entertain the idea that Gruden doesn’t want Currie.

Keep thinking, for better or worse that Jones and Currie are tied together on this one. That’s the only plausible explanation of why CBJ is still on the sidelines, IMO.

Maybe Jones will take down the whole ship if fired.
But CBJ doesn’t look interested in being here. And for him to still be here he has to have leverage. His on field performance, isn’t good enough to keep him, his potential concussions past accusations aren’t going to keep him here.

You might say the contract and money, but he’s not going to be here next year. And money difference between now and end of season is neglible.

What leverage does CBJ have to keep himself on the sideline.

We may well have Gruden, but if we do he’ll want this mess to be cleared before he comes to The Hill.

The equation for a war.

Willful intent is certainly different than woeful incompetence....but neither is a resume builder.

I'm not sure about the legalities of college football coaching, but I know if you drive drunk and say you didn't know it was illegal to a cop, you're going to jail anyways. Ignorance is not an excuse.

It has been stated by one of the insiders that the academic side is not holding this up. And I believe maybe even she was on board.

I feel like there is one person holding this up when it all comes down to it.

We have had this discussion before but the one consistency that comes out of my conversations with my booster friend is "Big Jim won't get out of the way". I used to think he was probably exaggerating but I'm now confident he's a big problem. After the AD hire and the way it went down, I cemented what he's conveyed to me on multiple occasions.

Others with connected friends parrot the same. I hope part of the struggle here is a shift in the big money and power they hold. If enough high level boosters present a united front do you believe they are capable of forcing the spread of power between the group?

Everyone is assuming there is a "holdup" (maybe there is, maybe there isn't) but this S*** takes time. (no insider information, just real world experience)

And that one person answers to Bev, correct?

I'm pretty sure that's the case now.

The observer is in the press box with good view of field and sidelines, sees an issue, contacts the replay official, reviews the video, if the observer notices something they contact the ref. Ref stops play and pulls the player out for team medical staff to evaluate. Coaching staff has no say so

I truly believe Tennessee will lose to Southern Miss this week for the Butch Jones Grand Finale. SOOON!

I’m starting to feel like, even if Flat Top were to lose to the Tennessee School for the Blind he’d still roll out to the podium the following week to talk about resilience....and eye discipline

Hence the reason I hate politics at all levels.....it pisses me off.
