As much as that is a concern, the fly in the ointment that hired Currie in the first place is what makes me fear that this will be the same song and dance as 2012.
Still completely baffles me how one man has so much power amongst a large group of power-hungry people.
I haven't seen this mentioned, but does anyone recall a few years back when Jordan Matthews (Vandy) took a hard blow and vomitted on the field of play a few plays later. I don't recall how Franklin snuck out the back door on that one, other than the onset of symptoms and reactions was almost immediate.
That's against the thought that the Currie was brought in as part of the larger plan (some say 5 years in the making) to eventually bring Gruden (or at least a major fish). Looking more like the narrative of Haslams vs the other boosters in a major power struggle. From my uninformed perspective, having Haslam not run the show any longer would be in the best interest of UT. All very interesting. I feel like the class dunce for just now beginning to put things together.
If Currie is against Gruden then he will get freight trained by a cash cow --- well by a no cash, cash cow.
But I thought I read somewhere in one our many Gruden threads that Currie was all about Gruden (from an "insider")?????
I didn't want to go there but Yes! We are placing our trust in people who Lost last time, that they will WIN this time..... I would be a lot more conformable if I knew exactly who the players are!
The legal standard for negligence does not automatically allow Butch to hide behind a lack of actual knowledge. As the head coach, should he have known that something was wrong? And was the team policy designed to shift responsibility onto players to essentially self-diagnose and self-report? While the coaches emphasize an "unspoken" rule of NOT self-reporting?
I think Butch has put the University into a very very dangerous position if the answers are in the affirmative.
Exactly...
Nothing to see here...
One big happy family.
I think they were both talking about whether they should go to that "business meeting" at Albert Haynesworth's house they were invited to. They were trying to decide if they were "keeping their options open"
What does frustrate me about this power struggle is that neither side seems to have worked toward any tangible middle ground. I hope we don't end up with nothing by fracturing.
I can't speak for anyone else, but I think the problem is that Butch Jones runs such a s*** show on the sidelines, that a player that can't even find the huddle goes completely overlooked for over half a football game. That is just as dangerous as a him knowing the kid was concussed.
That's why I believe that Davenport squashed the facilities contract that Haslam was pushing out to the state entities. The only other school to decline was ETSU which is currently led by a UTK alum.
The last time the boosters had pooled money for the Gruden hire, they let the AD keep it. This time according to the Beav the money is contingent on Gruden as well as future contributions. It will be I interesting to see whether they hold true to their threats or give in if they cannot get on the same page as far as Gruden. Atlanta Vols perspective would be interesting.
Early on, it was stated that one of the motivations of firing Fulmer was that Currie convinced Hamilton that we could get Gruden then. Then Hamilton developed a man crush on Kiffin and went the other way.
I can say that someone very close to the program said that Currie is very methodical and thinks every scenario through before pulling the trigger and they they respect him.
