Official Jon Gruden Thread XXVI

It doesn’t appear to be the whole document.

That said, as an attorney I read this snippet as saying “we have all of the right protocols in place. If a player played with a concussion that got through layers of trained medical staff, including independent third party control, all with the independent ability to remove a player at risk, its not the fault of any one person.”

That's sort of what I'm thinking..."not CBJ's fault."

Yup, but they said it without giving a lick of support to Butch.

If true it was right there in front of us.

I can see that. If Butch renegotiated his contract to have an end date of 11/25 (the last regular season game), and Gruden's contract specifies a start date no earlier than 11/26, they could both be "signed" but not in conflict.

Thus, the posts about Butch being "done" after UGA could have, in fact, been 100% true. And the posts about Gruden being "done" close to the USCjr game could have, in fact, been 100% true. I'm not an insider by any means so please don't read into that as me saying it is, but that's just a passing thought.

I'm not a contract lawyer to be able to speak to the legality of said scenario but it logically makes sense. That could also be the reason why Currie is so hesitant to fire Butch prior to the end of the season, since Butch's renegotiated contract may have some additional penalties for premature termination without cause.

I just got up, and it's too early for a Grand Vol update. Without going back through the thread, I don't know if this has been posted yet. Butch is finished and looking for the next job.

Report: Butch Jones's agent has buyout in place and is pursuing a landing spot

last night before the last thread closed, i posted:
Something just occurred to me and I'm going back to bed ... Hope it's not been posted.

Butch to south Alabama ... If he was angling for a job while he was HC at UT then it'd be okay if currie was finding a coach while he was HC at UT.

Currie can announce jg same day as Butch to USA is announced!

I'll check back in the morning.
Grude night all.

.........

i think we're all on to something here.
i'm catching up, on page 5 or something like that.
see y'all in a few.

I also believe that Kelly Washington dramatically changed the team dynamics. That was long before the official downfall though.

Absolutely. That guy was a cancer to the locker room the same way Terrel Owens was. I think Washington has a bigger part in Fulmer’s downfall and the state of the program than most realize.

The downturn, in my opinion, began when Rohan Davey got injured and was subsequently replaced by Mauck in the '01 SECCG.

The bleeding was postponed when Cut returned for the '06 and '07 seasons, but after Cut's departure to Duke, the wheels came completely off.

The decisions that were made leading up to and following the Fulmer debacle only further cemented our fate to this point.

After Cut left (the second time), Fulmer made a bad decision in hiring Clawson as OC. He went against his own judgment and hired an outsider based up on all of the external complaints of "we need new blood" and that led to his downfall.

Aka.....it wasn't Butch's fault. That's how I took it.

That’s how I read what was posted. There would have been many ways to subtly distance yourself from Butch if you wanted to roll him under the bus.

All that said, it just doesn’t seem like the whole statement so important context could be missing.

Completely agree. Now would be the time to distance yourself from Butch, one would think.

He was such a pre-madonna and I think that fulmer let him be which was uncharacteristic for fulmer. I think it opened the door for the overall team dynamics to be more about me me me and less about team.

That’s a very interesting perspective...on how Coach lost his team, which started all this destruction. Did you see this at the time, or how and when did you come to this conclusion?

Waiting for the 11-12pm Debbie Downer news to set thread on school girl fire

I don't know. Simple correlative observation.

I think the VC stuff may well be the lynchpin that makes the deal happen.

I don't think corker has anything to do with this.

I agree with you and that’s why I went down the VC/Castor Venture rabbit hole over the past few days.

If a fund is established, under the umbrella, for UT; it will also allow for Tennessee degreed investors/ambassadors. That would be a benefit to another stakeholder group, as these funds are usually quite profitable.
