whats also interesting --

Gruden has never been a head coach in college and someone has possibly suggested he couldnt be successful as one . Since JG is a highly competitive guy, he is taking that as a serious personal challenge and wants to prove that he can do it.

just a thought.

Jon Gruden himself said something like that in an interview a year or two ago. Said that he'd be worried he would get schools in trouble because he'd want to be working all the time, 24 hours a day, and might end up violating some NCAA rules.

It was the coaching equivalent of the sneaky interview response, where when they ask you what one of your weaknesses is, you respond that you just care too darn much and don't know when to call it a day! :)

The keeping of them isn't even the goal, I don't think. You actually hope they'll leave for jobs as head coaches themselves. Because you'll quickly get known as the incubator for upward coaching mobility, and you'll continue to have the best assistant coaches and position coaches in the nation knocking on the door to be let in.

So it's a dynamic form of excellence, rather than a static one. But still very, very good, right?
This. Saban never worries about assistants moving on. That’s also the only possible way I could see McDaniels coming here, if he thought it would help him get a HC job in the next year or two. Still wouldn’t make much sense to me but it’s at least semi-plausible.

Could mean Gruden said no twice and 3rd time was accepted or I read too much into what he posts and I need a vacation

There’s always a meaning. I’m telling you, this isn’t his primary account. In the beginning he acted as if he had no idea how to sign up for Twitter. This account is to only convey a message to specific group.

That doesn't make sense. I thought we discussed this before and it is the other way around. He is owed on buyout for every year he has left and the monthly would be prorated. The buyout would be more if we fire now vs. December.

This article words the facts very poorly. The number they came up with is is monthly salary - monthy calculated buyout = $133,334.

You are correct, the buyout goes down, but it is true that every month he is employed he is being paid more than if he were fired today.

Tweet from MIT:

I love Lagavulin 16! Some people are too scared to try because of the Smokey flavor. Yes, you may get burned the first couple sips but by the third everything will feel just right.

Uhoh.

This is the second time we've gone after Gruden.

MIT is clearly telling us that we will be burned this time.

Pack it in guys, we will have to wait for the next coaching search to get Gruden.

he was a beast of a recruiter ... that's why meyer was able to hit the ground running in UF.

but he's special teams coordinator at Green Bay ... just trying to see where he fits in.

im sure many people believe if Zook was offered a job as DC/recruiting coordinator at UT with Gruden he would grab it like a blind dog in a meat house.

I thought it was determined that DP is no longer associated with UT. DP said he doesn't live in Tennessee anymore and I don't recall a dollar amount stated that Ergen gives. He just said Ergen has given the same amount each year for 10 years. Maybe SfD can verify?

I'm surprised not to have seen it mentioned in these gruden threads, (which I've tried to follow), the reason DP isn't associated with UT anymore is because he was an Adidas representative and UT has now partnered with Nike. Of course he was in and around the athletic dept. a lot when we were using Adidas and had some connections but not sure if that's still the case. I apologize in advance for any errors on my part.
