I thought haynesworth established that the Haslams were doing that part.

Probably involved in the brokering of it.

It’s common for VC and PE groups to help schools with contract buyouts.

Have several clients who’ve been involved in that type of thing.

Would be absolutely shocked if Jones is still here by Tuesday. Partly because of the how this season is going and also because of the text I received this week telling me as much.

JMO, but you guys need to slow roll the MIT_Beaver train. Obviously his source "telling him as such" doesn't have good information, or at the very least, isn't very good at interpreting information. Everything being stated about Gruden should be taken with a huge grain of salt.

No offense beaver, seriously. But its hard to believe any of this. Wanting to believe and actually believing are two different things I think get confused in this thread.

I hope this isn't too inflammatory for this thread, but I feel relatively confident in saying that Gruden isn't interested. I know everyone's mother's brother's third cousin's uncle on his father's side has a friend on the board that knows with absolute certainty that the deal has already been made, but I've just heard too much of that on the last go-around to have much faith. That being said, I'm not overly excited about potential Butch replacements either. The current Vegas odds top 5 have John Gruden (+250, although I still don't buy that he's interested, but maybe they know something I don't), Chip Kelly (+400), Jeff Brohm (+550), Bobby Petrino (+550), and Mike Norvell (+900).

Not gonna lie, there's only one name on that list that excites me, and that's Chip Kelly. Yes, the idea of Jon Gruden excites me, but as previously discussed, I just canlt make myself believe that he's interested. That being said, I;d like to discuss a name that I don't think gets brought up enough. It might be a long shot, but I think it's at least worth having a discussion about seeing if Jim Tressel is ready to come out of retirement. His show-cause penalty ended in Dec '16. He had 6 Big Ten Conference championships, 2 BCS championships (if you count the vacated one), and a a career record of 229–79–2, or 241-79-2 if you count the vacated wins. With Ohio State, he was 94-22 (106-22). I just don't see another coach out there that can really match that record, and I don't know why he isn't discussed more.

Thoughts?[/QUOTE]

You just joined VN, you make your very first post in the Gruden thread and you say Gruden IS NOT coming....

You offer no evidence to this theory, you promote someone else when there are plenty of threads already doing that

My Thought.... You are a TROLL and a very BAD one at that

Yeah lets fire a coach last November that had won more game in back to back seasons than UT had won in a decade. Real smart.

See Florida

You don't wait around hoping he works out

The guy has a losing record against ever SEC team not named Kentucky, Missouri, or Vandy

He sucks. He sucked when we hired him. Get his ass out

I guess you like losing to Vanderbilt, South Carolina, and Kentucky on a regular basis. Mediocrity will not be tolerated at Tennessee. I’ll prepare myself for your scolding

Why would we want Gruden. he is not that good. & he has been out of coaching for 10 years. And he said he would make a horrible college coach.

Southern Miss will be CBJ's last game. Currie will announce the change after homecoming. Much like they did with Fulmer's end. Jmo.....

I don't buy this. Fulmer fire was different. Fan base was divided. This time there isn't one person who thinks Jones should still be here. Not even Jones.

Firing Jones before homecoming would help curries credit with the fan base. Just my opinion.

Lol @ game theory. He’s just suggesting the boosters are giving the AD an ultimatum, which is hardly game theory.

Game theory I don't think is code. It's simply they aren't going to pay a buyout unless demands are met. This causing them to feel the wrath off every loss. Homecoming being the coup de grace

Anyone with critical thinking skills watching last year's Alabama game knew butch would never make us competitive.

Thanks! And very interesting.

Yep. Usually if there’s some capital that hasn’t found a home and there’s a connection with a school, they will pony up the cash to make a decent return while they continue to search for a solid business to put money in.
