First off barely above 500 in NFL is actually pretty good. He doesn't get to pay UMASS to come play him.

2nd, that defense was Monte Kiffins....the offense he inherited literally put up 30ish points TOTAL in 4 playoff games under Dungy.

Grudens offense tied the Dallas Cowboys for most points scored in a playoff stretch... Hint more per game that Dungy scored in 4 games...

Gruden had his hands tied due to no money available in the salary cap (something that was done before Gruden for there)

Everyone seems to forget that he played HIS Raiders in the Superbowl... His team he built vs the team he took over in the Superbowl.

All in all, he won his division 5 times out of 11 years coaching.
And he had crap QBs Brad Johnson at TB and Rich Gannon at Oakland.

The whole he won with someone's players argument is stupid. If he was a terrible coach how come he was able to win when dungy couldn't?

If he won with dungys team as you say, how do you explain him being one tuck rule bs call from having 2 super bowl wins?
where did you get from my statement that he was a terrible coach? How would you best describe your reading comprehension skills? Why was he later fired?

talk about being PO'd...I flew 2000 miles and 8 hours to watch that crap...I feel your pain

as the Who song goes..."I won't get fooled again"

That was pretty dumb.

I kid. That had to have sucked.

I had the opportunity to go and skipped it to go to work. I had a bad feeling about that game and really glad I didn't go now.

My question is why would we buy out another coaches contract instead of using that money on Gruden or Kelly. Why not take that money and put it on their contract to entice them with more money?

don't feel like reading through 10 billion pages to get a consensus. A choice if you will, like the one you had to not read or respond to this thread if you so chose .

10 billion pages? C'mon now, exaggerate much?

I recently went back and checked and I count close to 158,000 comments in the official Gruden threads of the last search plus approximately 50,000 comments in new and ancillary threads adding up to, at an average of 20 words per comment, approximately 4,160,000 words. An average human's reading speed is 200 wpm so if you're at least average and you read for a solid 40 hours per week, no breaks, no lunch, it would only take you 10 years to get caught up on all the Gruden comments on VolNation. And that is no exaggeration.

So next time just say I don't have 10 years to spare and no one is going to call you out for exaggerating. If you are a below average reader and only read at around 100 wpm you can say you don't have 20 years to spare. It's allowed and no one will make fun of you. TIFWIW, jmo.

Feeling the same way. It doesn't have to be Gruden or Chip, but if I have to google the next coach I think I will finally be beaten down by the UT admin and admit defeat.

Not enough fans will take this approach. Too many will still show up to games to watch another team led by Butch Dooley.

Imagine Neyland at night vs Bama with the man himself roaming the sidelines. #1 Bama vs #4 UT Grudens second season. Let it become reality....

I seriously have to quit losing sleep because I'm constantly hitting refresh and staring at this thread like some earth shaking information is suddenly gonna drop.

Could we all go to every Pilot?
We hold car washes and bake sales.
All proceeds go to the Big Jim Haslam Get GrudenKelly fund

Look, I personally like the guy and think that he would be an upgrade. I am curious though as to the obsession that many seem to have with him. The guy is barely over .500 lifetime. Yes he won a Super Bowl, but that team was primarily constructed by Tony Dungy. The cornerstone of that team was a Monte Kiffin led defense. So in light of that I ask, why the obsession? I have never believed that there is even a remote chance that he is coming here to start with, but let's pretend he is. What makes him more valuable than a proven commodity like Gary Patterson for instance? Mods feel free to merge if necessary with one of the many existing Gruden threads if needed.

Because he is the one hire that will shut up the rest of the SEC. He is THE ONE that will make Alabama man lose his temper and go back to Toomers Corner and molest the trees.

I think if there was a legit guaranteed to go to the cause gofundme started a lot would donate. I don't know much about it but as far as I can tell there is no way to tell if it will really be donated or go in some jackwagons pocket.

Oh I agree it was dumb alright...and I knew the odds were good it could be bad...but dang, what a beatdown...

Haha, I don't think it's ever dumb to go to a Vols game, especially at Neyland.

I picked us to win close 34-31, but knew there was a possibility of them beating us pretty good. Never would have thought it would get that ugly.

Is what it is tho.

piss on the rest of the SEC. Winning ball games will also shut them up

Gruden just said he'd like to get the Storm
Trooper (who was in the booth at halftime if MNF) trained as an analyst. It's another sign he's gonna leave the booth. Just saying, y'all.

Because it requires zero thought, he is and will not come here and neither will Chip. It is next to impossible to get them out of the announcing jobs once they take a break.

Tee Martin
Frank Wilson
D.J. Durkin

In that order.

Your list might as well say

Butch

Tee Martin is potentially a program killling hire. I seriously question the sanity of anyone suggesting him.

That’s not to say he may not eventually turn out to be a great coach. But the odds are overwhelmingly low.

Plus, our all white road uniforms are called Stormtroopers.
Another sign.
Soon.
