Yes, he has several reasons both professionally (MNF) and personally to be in Tennessee this weekend so that's not surprising. To go negagrud, if he was considering taking another man's job then he wouldn't be hanging in public when he's well aware of all the rumors.
True but not naive ether.

Protocol should be for him to go in the box of that donor who made a gazillion from Carpet and told me on a bus going back to hotel in Ocala after a FL loss that he paid for Battle's moving van. I want him in THAT box :)

I look at differently. He knows the coaching search and the process. Why would he come to Knoxville and jeopardize his reputation if he really was a candidate. Yeah, his son is there, and yes, I'll get flamed, but seems to me if he were a real candidate, he would meet with agents or boosters in Nashville. Him in Knoxville is leaving the door open to a lot of Grumors! He's still my no. 1.

I agree with this.

His son is in Knoxville. He will be calling a game in Nashville on Monday so why can't a father go a short distance to spend the weekend with his son and family?

Reading way too much into him being in Knoxville.

"Honey did you read this thread on VolNation..they are crazy"

"yeah but Grand Vol guy was talking about 9 million and full control"

"well we do have property here"

If Grand Vol was a big time booster and had that kind of money to throw around, I would have already worked the board and told them I'm fronting the first three years of Gruden's salary at $7 mil a year. Once they got over the shock and agree to my proposal, I would be loading Peyton and Currie into my Gulfstream, headed to Tamp with the first three years of his $7 mil a year salary in hand (checkbook obviously) with this list:

$7 million a year, staff of choice (I would work the board to put $5.5 mil on the staff, first three years guaranteed) and control of FB operations.

Bonus schedule includes, but not limited to:

$250K for reaching the SEC CG
$500K for winning it
$500K for reaching playoffs
$500K for going to National CG
$1M for winning NCG

Additional bonus of $250K for beating Saban in his first year.

"Go ahead and say no, Jon."

Haha, I think I'm not the only one who "reads too much."
All in fun.

If he (or his representatives) have been approached about the job, as others have suggested, then there is no way he's in town posing for pics with folks wearing UT gear. Regardless of his reason for actually being in town.
