If it takes firing Hart to hire Gruden....

Only one thing left to say to Hart...

Well....Bye.

attachment.php

I am thinkin of Gruden as Doc Holliday in the street with future AD Fulmer and assistant coaches, telling Hart (Johnny Tyler) "Oh Dave, I apologize; I forgot you were there. You may go now."

This has become a cluster of a situation. There will have to be a point where boosters take this thing over and get our guy. Hart is a disaster. I would like to think he is playing chess to eventually get Gruden but history of this school tells us no.

So we haven't heard anything new yet....?

GA and roommate of Gruden's when they were at Tennessee.

Likely source from Hargis's report last week from a "potential staff member"

He resigned on tuesday.

He is friends with Gruden.

Dooley destroyed in state relationships with High School Coaches.

The thought is that Gruden will hire Grider as his high school liason!!!

How is he not reliable and this Knoxville media who are telling us it's strong, Fedora, Gundy, no it's not, yes it is, no it's not...etc. are any better?

EXACTLY. Also, I don't know why, how or what that call screener's statement was based on. Everything I've found about Hargis has been pretty solid.

At the least, he put his neck out there, more than I've seen from 99% of the sports reporters that are out there covering this thing.

Your description is kind of how I've been thinking about it. But I'm having trouble imagining the willingness of parties involved to play it this way, knowing that if it comes out we were just "testing" the waters, how angry it would make the schools who gave their coaches a raise and extension because we were fishing around. If I were an AD at Louisville or OSU right now, I'd be ready to literally kills UT's Administrators. Completely unethical. There's alot of layers to this that we don't know and may never know.

Not if Hart was truly trying to hire on his own.

I posted this theory on the Grider / Gruden thread:

Sure, he will end up of his staff. But his important first unofficial job will be dead period prospect analyst. JG will have a shortened recruiting period. What if JG already had a list of top prospects that would come just on his name, ones that a little visit would take care of, ones that would take some serious convincing and the ones that were just not coming no matter what. How much time could that save a guy. We know that JG is very organized and efficient. He would want to spend his time wisely and this is just a masterful way to do so. He also gets to be in these kids ear when all the other coaches will not since Grider is not on a staff that doesn't exist, yet.

I think you could be on to something. :good!:

Is this biblical??

Bahaha no... Some people predicted 3 rejections months ago before Gruden is announced. Rumor is Hart had 3 chances to hire his guy, and if he failed the boosters were taking over; much like what happened in Alabama when Saban was hired. There are rumors that these coaches may have been lured into saying NO by something oror someone behind the scenes. Word is, expect all sorts of rumors after The Gruden is hired. As for me, if Gruden or when Gruden is hired, the only rumors I will follow will be the ones regarding 4 & 5 star recruits rumored to be switching their commitments to the VOLS!

I don't think the AD was testing the waters at all. I believe that if the AD got one of the other candidates at the price he wanted (or was able) to pay, the PC would be done, and we'd have a coach.

I think a lot of confidence shown by the OGs on here this week was a combination of some knowledge and some hope. Boosters are connected. They knew the other candidates. They know fellow boosters at those schools. Money people know money people. The would have had a very real sense of the offer the UT AD would have been capable of making as well as some sense of the likelihood of them taking it.

This is my guess why the "so close you will want to puke" comment popped up. I think there was at least some concern as to the likelihood of LU matching us for Strong or the possibility he might take the job anyway because it was in the SEC.

First post here. I've been telling everyone for weeks it's Gruden. But I do have one lingering question I hope to get some feedback on: Why would Gruden want to take a job that a bunch of middle tier coaches have turned down? His reputation means everything to him and he's an egomaniac. It seems like he would only want a job that was universally known to be the best? Does accepting the TN job make him look like he settled for a job?

There is none. Maybe Haslam is giving Hart the rope to hang himself with. I'm not sure what that means in regards to this search. It seems it will be too late.

That is already accomplished. Now, when does somebody step in and say "Enough!!!"

I am concerned Hart is going to hire Butch Jones from Cincy.

Its gotta be Gruden or Fired NFL coach. Hart has got to go that direction. If we go after Sweeny or Tommy Bowden, Hart seriously needs to be gone.

Fellow Grudenites, I really have to some work today!!! This coaching search has really put me behind on some critical work that I need to get done. I will be checking in to see if we have any updates from time to time this afternoon.

Keep the Faith!

Believe!

Soon!

Gruden, Gruden, Gruden

Lets think this through. Fulmer's buy out just ended or will end soon. Do we really think Haslem and company who got to where they are by being shrewd and intelligent business men, would hire a man back and pay him another 3-5 million a year??? That's a waste of their money, tax payer money and a concession that they were wrong which is probably the biggest reason they won't hire him back. The national media doesn't care about TN football and why should we rush a hire just so Dan Patrick and the rest won't make fun of us??? They won't be making fun of us when we're hoisting the Crystal football in a few short years. These past few weeks will be a distant memory.
