The fans probably don’t feel betrayed.

Agreed. Just don’t think most will see it that way.

i think most see it more clearly now than they ever had.

but i do agree, on the whole, most don't know, and there's not enough attention to Currie, and haslam more importantly, as to how we got here in the fisrt place.

Tennessee is letting Jimmy run roughshod, shame on them. Shame on Currie, shame on Haslam and it's a shame Tennessee apparently is going to let Currie and Haslam keep running the show after deceiving and going after Schiano and not putting any effort into a hire for 2 weeks and now we are scrambling. With me and many this is still about Currie and in no way he should ever be allowed to continue with this search. It's a travesty, and no way should happen.

Here comes Gruden, Here comes Gruden, right down Fulmer Way
Lane is a *****, Gruden is a Grinder, a champion who will stay
Jon's recruiting, Phil's pooting, all is merry and bright
so pray to Drunk Johnny and lardaass Phil that Gruden comes through tonight. OOOOOOOOHH.
Her comes Gruden, Here Comes Gruden, right down Peyton Pass
those who doubt the word of Revere will kiss my rosie red ass
kids will clamor, adults will get hammered, butts will fill the seats.
a great recruiter, a real straight shooter, Gruden is tough to beat.
Merry Christman Vols

In such difficult times that we are currently going through, I can not help but laugh at this guy! At least he has brought us some humor.

Yea, I feel ya, but if Currie/Haslem wants someone they can easily control I promise it is not the pirate haha

I agree that they probably would not be able to control him if he were to be our HC, but I believe it is important that Currie/Haslam do not get to exercise control in the hiring process.

Leach is an excellent hire. Wtf?
No, no he's not. Clearly he's better than some of the other names that have popped up, but let's not look at it as excellent. Like others have said, he's a coach that will get us to a ceiling of 10 wins or so, but I can't see him ever competing for a national championship here. Granted that better than we've seen in some time, that's not what we should strive for. Based on name's we've heard thrown around, I'd much rather have Kiffin or Brohm (outside of Gruden of course).

I don’t think this is a Haslam hire. I think the tables did turn after the past week and Currie is just being used by the other side now. I’m just as clueless as everyone else in here though. Just guessing

Come on folks. We hire a pirate at a school with the "Vol Navy"? With his quirky personality? Pure f'ing marketing gold. He's the anti-Butch.

I will keep the Banquet Beer in the fridge at all times in case Mike wants to come aboard my vessel before games. I expect he'll embrace our tradition like no other coach before him.

I wanted Gruden badly but Leach is a fine plan 'B'. His teams will be fun to watch and Neyland will be packed.

The Currie/Haslam siutauon is still a problem. For now, though, all go to sleep tonight a little more hopeful than the last 3-4 nights.

the fact that he is not already fired feels like a betrayal. sorry to say.

If the chatter I'm hearing is true...ugh.

I said at the beginning of the ordeal this week, if Currie hires a coach, ANY coach, I'm out. I meant it. Currie making a hire means Haslam is still at the rudder.

The party goes on for a few more years and the money will flow in. Business as usual. Sad. Wonder if big donors will still withhold funds.

I believe the puppet is custom fit for Jimmy's hand; I'm not sure if it would fit another.

Exile, is it possible that this hire ISN’T being made by Currie? The Haslams can’t control Leach. He’s not even trying to control himself, right? LOL So, maybe this decision is being made by others? Skeeter’s fireworks meant something, right?

Alright, I don't post much but this is insane. After of the debacle this search has been if it ends in Leach consider ourselves lucky. Remember our last candidate was Dorean?

Even if you are right that Leach has a ceiling of 10 wins, when was the last time we saw 10 wins as Vols fans? Its been a while. On top of that, Leach is not someone the admin will be able to control, that is something that I would call a success based on the tone of this forum. Is he Gruden? No, but we could do much much worse than Mike Leach.

I know y’all hate me for not being 100% Gruden anymore. But Mike Leach is solid. I followed him at Texas Tech. He’s the type of guy that looks at what we did Sunday with Schiano and thinks it’s awesome. He is one of us.

Look at his record cat daddy. Look at all the records. The best record out there is Les Miles. Brohm would have been a good hire. Leach will come for the money but I promise you his buyout will be high. Ain't no coach coming here without covering his azz. I don't care who it is. And when you start putting caps on the assistants salary which is a restriction they gonna lay down. Our AD is the worse in this country. They are making their own track record. I predict UF will have 4 more wins than UT next year as it stands now. You have 5* lineman walking away because they can see this cluster f*#k.
