The fans probably dont feel betrayed.
Agreed. Just dont think most will see it that way.
Here comes Gruden, Here comes Gruden, right down Fulmer Way
Lane is a *****, Gruden is a Grinder, a champion who will stay
Jon's recruiting, Phil's pooting, all is merry and bright
so pray to Drunk Johnny and lardaass Phil that Gruden comes through tonight. OOOOOOOOHH.
Her comes Gruden, Here Comes Gruden, right down Peyton Pass
those who doubt the word of Revere will kiss my rosie red ass
kids will clamor, adults will get hammered, butts will fill the seats.
a great recruiter, a real straight shooter, Gruden is tough to beat.
Merry Christman Vols
No, no he's not. Clearly he's better than some of the other names that have popped up, but let's not look at it as excellent. Like others have said, he's a coach that will get us to a ceiling of 10 wins or so, but I can't see him ever competing for a national championship here. Granted that better than we've seen in some time, that's not what we should strive for. Based on name's we've heard thrown around, I'd much rather have Kiffin or Brohm (outside of Gruden of course).Leach is an excellent hire. Wtf?
I agree that they probably would not be able to control him if he were to be our HC, but I believe it is important that Currie/Haslam do not get to exercise control in the hiring process.
Come on folks. We hire a pirate at a school with the "Vol Navy"? With his quirky personality? Pure f'ing marketing gold. He's the anti-Butch.
I will keep the Banquet Beer in the fridge at all times in case Mike wants to come aboard my vessel before games. I expect he'll embrace our tradition like no other coach before him.
I wanted Gruden badly but Leach is a fine plan 'B'. His teams will be fun to watch and Neyland will be packed.
The Currie/Haslam siutauon is still a problem. For now, though, all go to sleep tonight a little more hopeful than the last 3-4 nights.
If the chatter I'm hearing is true...ugh.
I said at the beginning of the ordeal this week, if Currie hires a coach, ANY coach, I'm out. I meant it. Currie making a hire means Haslam is still at the rudder.

I know yall hate me for not being 100% Gruden anymore. But Mike Leach is solid. I followed him at Texas Tech. Hes the type of guy that looks at what we did Sunday with Schiano and thinks its awesome. He is one of us.
