For what it's worth.

Im not as confident as some are on Gruden being a done deal, but...

I think our next coach is a done deal. I really don't think there is any question. It very well may not be Gruden, but there is just too much that makes sense that it is.

FTR and Just me, but reading "it's done, contract signed", means less to me than more.

Same.

Happy Thanksgiving VN!

Hyams just reported that Puxatony Phil did not come out of his hole and sources say its due to explosive diarrhea from the pressure of Groundhog Day. A list of replacement candidates he’s told are : Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, Lone Ranger, and Butch Jones.

Still hoping for Gruden.

But for today...we have Turkey & Tennessee Basketball...it’s going to be a Grude day.

Happy Thanksgiving Volnation. God Bless :)

The coaching search is over. We either have Sexton choosing our coach for us, or we have a loyal Vol loving orange bleeding Rocky Top singing smokey caring leader with balls big enough to say no to the jack leg sexton.

We await the final Currie decision. God help us vol fans.

I think Mullen would win just enough here to not get fired.

Probably, but who knows?

He could win championships, but that's what would have to happen for me to get excited about him. I don't want to wait that long to be excited about TENNESSEE football. Im chit slapping excited about just the possibility of Gruden.

I’ll take the Bunny and Santa over Butch any day of the week :clapping:

How absolutely inspiring. I only hope we shoot that high on this hire!

Yeah, I'd feel stuck with him. He's not going to compete with the Alabamas and Georgias (Florida if they hire someone good). We will be a perennial 9-3 or 8-4 team, consistently middle of the pack. A Mullen hire would bore this program to death.

128-28 career record. Long-term sustainment and improvement of the Boise State program. Proper rebuild and development of Washington program on the heels of Drunk Sarkissian.

Part of what Gruden represents for many of us who believe he should be the coach is symbolic. Instead of chasing a mid-major coach lacking experience at the higher echelons of college coaching, Tennessee would actually be trying to go for a man who has won at the highest levels of the game.

Gruden threads are about more than just the man himself; they state a hunger from those posting on them to see Tennessee go for the best instead of taking the lowest common denominator.

To get a coach on Gruden's level and undeniable ability would demonstrate to the nation on an immediate level that Tennessee is back in the business of playing elite football.

I would be happy with Petersen or Patterson. They are proven program-builders at the P5 level. They are winners who can challenge and win championships.

Mullen would bring us a competent SEC-level coach who is mentally stable and would not fear the challenges of the job. Not sure he would give us more than that and I believe more than competence is needed after a decade of rot.

This is stated and crystallized better than I have been able to express. Thank you for one of the most cogent posts in all of the Gruden threads.

Me too. I want a commitment to athletic excellence for once, and only about three names tell me they're committed to getting it done.

I said this before, but all the Frosties, Mullenizers, and especially the dope Schiano fans won't answer- do we think any of those guys can beat two out of three of (possibly) Kelly, Smart, and Saban on a regular basis?

I certainly don't.

Jmo, but I think it's extremely interesting that on Tuesday, Bubba said to keep an eye on VN tomorrow, which was yesterday.

Good God, remind me to not go in the RF and definitely partake in their trivial banter of mediocre coaches.

I need to take a shower now from the filth that I acquired in that place.

Question

When does your faith in Gruden start to sway? For me, if he’s not announced by next Wednesday, color me concerned.

Agreed.

If I had tried to say that, I'd still be typing.
