The word is that the people in Florida did not like him when he was there. His wife even made some comments saying she hated Gainsville and would go out of town to shop because she disliked the fans.

Yes! Mullen's wife isn't leaving Starkville, just like saban's wife isn't leaving tuscaloosa.

This. Sometimes people don't get along. Doesn't make either one bad at their job.

I don't know, but I would think if the Florida AD thought Mullen could get it done at Florida, he wouldn't take a pass on him just because they don't like each other.

Currie and Phil seem to have put that kind of stuff behind them.

Today is a day to thank the Good Lord for all our blessings and to ignore all the mullen, frost, petersen, etc talk.

Tennessee needs the RIGHT coach and that man is Jon Gruden PERIOD !

Happy Thanksgiving, VolNation !

LWS said Chris Petersen possible. I know it’s blasphemy for some on here but Petersen>Gruden

128-28 career record. Long-term sustainment and improvement of the Boise State program. Proper rebuild and development of Washington program on the heels of Drunk Sarkissian.

Part of what Gruden represents for many of us who believe he should be the coach is symbolic. Instead of chasing a mid-major coach lacking experience at the higher echelons of college coaching, Tennessee would actually be trying to go for a man who has won at the highest levels of the game.

Gruden threads are about more than just the man himself; they state a hunger from those posting on them to see Tennessee go for the best instead of taking the lowest common denominator.

To get a coach on Gruden's level and undeniable ability would demonstrate to the nation on an immediate level that Tennessee is back in the business of playing elite football.

I would be happy with Petersen or Patterson. They are proven program-builders at the P5 level. They are winners who can challenge and win championships.

Mullen would bring us a competent SEC-level coach who is mentally stable and would not fear the challenges of the job. Not sure he would give us more than that and I believe more than competence is needed after a decade of rot.

Everyone must experience the fort at least once. Nothin' like it. That's the only way we'll do Disney.

Last time we went was in '99. They had the Chip & Dale Adventures just like they did at the beginning in the 70's. That still goin' strong? Kids love it.

Doing a quick drive-by before getting today started, didn't think I would see you, left you a little compliment earlier. You know if I would have known you I just bet I would have said the same thing to your guy about you that I said to B about Donna C.-G. Since I didn't ,best I can do is wish YOU and your entire family a wonderful Thanksgiving! I keep picturing Gruden eating Thanksgiving with orange checkerboard tablecloth. GOD bless, Pioneer Pete

Given the money involved I tend to agree with you. Just jeep to yourself and do your job. When you feel upset look at your bank account.

Please don't type ridiculous statements jordan. He was in the Mountain conference with Boise and now in the Pac12 which both are some of the weakest conferences in America.

Also, a comment on what LWS said. No way he leaves Washington. He was born in Cali and only left the west coast once (back in 1992) for only one year as a stepping stone. His name might be thrown around and not just for our job but multiple jobs. Just his agent doing his job.

1987–1988 UC Davis (freshman)
1989–1991 UC Davis (WR)
1992 Pittsburgh (QB)
1993–1994 Portland State (QB)
1995–2000 Oregon (WR)
2001–2005 Boise State (OC)
2006–2013 Boise State
2014–present Washington

For me there it no drop off between the two. I think Petersen is the best *active coach out there. He does more with less than anyone.

The complaint about him being in weak conferences doesn't hold much water either- they regularly played (and beat) the big boys.

I think Tennessee has to hire one of Peteresen, Patterson, or Gruden.
