I think Fisher is a Mark Richt type of coach. He is having a ton of early success at FSU and then he will probably drop down to being a coach that sprinkles some 6 win years in and having a few ten win seasons. Sad thing is, with his team and talent he should be undefeated going into UF game every year.

You do know Richt is in the SEC championship this year???????????????? You people know nothing about college football.

Team wins sounds nice, but I don't want UT to get complacent and just catch a coach on his down slide. I really want to find that guy who is going to beat Saban more than he loses to him, I think that should be the goal even if it is unreasonable.

I think we are at a place now where we cannot afford to strike out on the next coach. If we do, things go nuts. Imagine the perception if Gruden does comes and fails (it IS a possibility). UT will seem like a graveyard of coaching. Give me a proven winner, give him a chance to get us winning more than 8-9 games a year for a span of 3-4 years and if he isn't getting better, cut him loose for someone better.

We cannot undo the last decade in a year. Just turning media perception will take 1-2 seasons, then you cant start really making huge strides in recruiting.

But by being de facto AD, he would no longer answer to Hart, but only to Cheek (in my hypothetical).

And cheek will take the advice of Hart. Cheek is a academia guy, he will listen to Hart when dealing with athletics. Hart would still have end around power on gru dog, whether gruden knew it or not.

I think that is a valid concern, but I would say this.

Those recruits at FSU are being recruited by almost every other SEC team, including Florida. He has made really good in roads there. I am sure it is difficult convincing a recruit to come play in the ACC with almost no chance to play for a national title when every SEC school is selling them on playing in the best conference in the nation. He has done VERY well there.

FSU went through a prolonged down period, just as UT has, after being a powerhouse in the 90s, just as UT was. He has shown he can rebuild a program succesfully.

If we go with coaches who have never lost against a team they shouldn't have, our list would quickly dwindle to ZERO, or Gruden who has never won a game either.

I think Jimbo is an offensive guy. If he came we would need to throw the cash at a big time DC for him. Look at Alabama, defense wins championships.

I just put a Facebook poll of my Alabama fans on who they would want if Saban left.

Here is what I got:

Urban Meyer, Chip Kelly, Kevin Sumlin, Mike Tomlin, Bill Bellichek, Bill Cowher, Kirby Smart, Gary Patterson

Our list:

Strong, Fedora, Fisher

You think they would be happy with our list? No, why should we?

I just want Patterson so we can have some big picture cards of plays on our sidelines.

Looks like the cool thing to do now-a-days

Posted by OCI at 12:48 p.m. today...."Gruden to UT not done yet!"

This is all fine as I will not give up hope on Gruden until someone else is introduced as coach.

At this point there is no more need to hang on the words of the OGs. We have no clue when something will get done now and all the insider info has been so thoroughly mixed up that I've lost my sense of smell for BS.

At this point, if there was in fact a campaign of misinformation, it has worked. The smoke is too thick to see anything.

I will just sit right where I am and wait and hang out with my VN peeps.

No. The rest are good though, realisticly? They would probably only be in contention for Patterson and Sumlin.

With more talent than he would have at UT. He ain't winning ten games here

Go with more than a gut feeling here, give me some evidence to back that up.

And even if there is substantial evidence to suggest you are right (I can't find any to suggest it is an impossibility as you do) tell me why winning 9 games for a few years would be bad when he has already proven he can beat UF and SCAR (something we haven't done in the same time frame).

Again, is it easier to rebuild in the ACC or the SEC? SEC has top 10 teams that are strongly entrenched. ACC is almost a carousel of teams taking the top spot. I agree with a lot of what you are saying and yes gruden could be a flopp, but I just want a sure fire recruit drawing name. If I was 18, none of those names would cause me to turn down a bama or usc offer.

I don't know where to start with this post.

Yeah watched for 20 years and do not think he can do what he does with less talent.

He recruited well at Auburn, LSU and FSU. He will recruit here, period. And he can coach em up. Seems you people will only except a coach that is undefeated this year. Aint gonna happen. Be realistic people!

Anyone else think the outcome of this TCU/OU game could put Stoops back in play?

Still want Gruden, but I think Stoops would be one he!! of a home run.

I'm with you on that one. I would throw smart out though eff him. It's like the media is trying to tell schools to hire him.

Bama doesn't seem like a school that can transition well to the spread...
