Official Jon Gruden Thread XIV

I can't wait for this to be over, and will support our Vols regardless. I agree with many of the posts here, especially those that say Gruden would be the fastest, but likely not permanent fix.

If there is any hope left for Gruden, I believe it lies in his ESPN ties. I don't think it was ever reasonable to think he was bailing on MNF before the end of the season. A process that had been on the "down low" was now made very public.

My hope is that everyone "in the know" was told to shut up or kiss this thing goodbye. Now we just wait until the day Hart stands at the podium.

Hope it was shut up.

I don't have time to hang today, been putting off some work, gotta get it done.

I saw babyvol's post, disappointing.

I believe 'nooga is correct.

I agree with posts that say Gruden was not on hart's list, whatever contact was to get boosters out of the way.

Believe it is not over, don't believe Gruden is "scared" of the job.

Keep the faith. All in!

That, in and of itself, would be admirable. But, if that is the case then it is far from admirable the way he handled the situation. IF he let on like he was interested, knowing that he really wasn't, that isn't admirable. Also, IF that is the case he should have came out and said that instead of letting his agent take a dump on the university and fans.
I can't argue that and it could mean what I heard isn't true. Maybe he didn't have any control over what his agent said? I don't know...:dunno:

I'm not giving up on it, as I honestly think that Gruden is the most likely candidate who can truly turn around Tennessee in the next 5 years.

Every other name I've heard sounds like Dooley 2.0.

I like the idea of Bob Stoops, but I really don't want a guy who is going to be remembered for his legacy elsewhere.

Every other coach isn't Dooley 2.0. Most of them are at least proven good head coaches.

How do we know for sure that its 100% over. Maybe its still in negotiations.

It's never over til its over...however, my energy level is to the point that I'd rather be distracted by talk of other coaches and be totally surprised by a Gruden hire...as it occurred in Tuscaloosa

Here's a quote from the post YOU QUOTED: "Gruden not even at the top of the list"

I do understand what you mean if you want to split hairs about me selecting a particular quote. I think you know very well what the context I am meaning is. If you want to hold onto Gruden only or Hart is an idiot and is the one that messed it up. Do so. I hope the majority of people find a way to reopen their minds to options out there though.

It's not much different than when people were telling me to see Dooley for what he was. because I wanted to believe the guy could win.

At a certain point you realize you're just wishing more than anything.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh nooooooo! I thought you were 80 % until someone else was announced. I based my formula off yours. Am I gonna have to adjust mine now?

Sorry man... I will hope for a miracle, and we get Gruden....

But to much out there now... looks like that is what it will take to get Gruden now... A MIRACLE

There just no one left that would be a home run hire, and that's what we need. Whoever comes in will be an upgrade for sure. Trusting the AD is very hard after Hamilton debacle.

I'm going to allow my mind to open up to another hire, having said that...it would not surprise me one bit if yet another level of negotiating began with Gruden at any point and time.

How's that for keeping one foot in the door? Lol

That's another way of looking at it..Sounds good to me,whatever works for ya'.

I am not saying you said it to be fact that is why I tried to capitalize IF. I am just saying if that was the case then why entertain te idea if comig here if you knew you weren't going to because your boys were still in Highschool and you wanted to see them graduate. I also think this is admirable. It's all speculation so we will just move on. BUT we do agree on this.
Everything is totally unofficial. And other than what was said by Lamonte and the Chatt TFP reports the rest seems very unoffical and scriptes and strange. Reguard less of who anyone wants as a coach, nobody knows what the heck is going on. From one hour to the next we are constantly hearing conflicting stories and reports. It had an eerie feeling to it. And We agree on the fact that it ain't over until its over and that doesn't happen until we have a new coach.
There's a lot that is not adding up and is just strange.
GBO
I was just mentioning it not being 100% fact and not insinuating anything. Promise! :) I agree with your post 100%.

Manning to titans. This is what I was thinking the whole time. Honestly, after what his agent said, I could care less about the guy. It was tacky at best.

That's all I am saying. Let the surprise of it be a surprise again and not a daily trudge to try and verify the truth out of the wood shavings on the floor.

Sorry man... I will hope for a miracle, and we get Gruden....

But to much out there now... looks like that is what it will take to get Gruden now... A MIRACLE

Didn't some OG's say it had to be this way and Hart had to look like a hero or am I mistaken?

Unless it's someone totally off the radar.

This is what I'm hoping for, but after what I'm hearing about this Mr. Hart, I don't hold much hope :(

I'm going to allow my mind to open up to another hire, having said that...it would not surprise me one bit if yet another level of negotiating began with Gruden at any point and time.

How's that for keeping one foot in the door? Lol

Nice AVI... this one is great
