Why not...If we have to settle for Dooley 2.0, the last Coordinator we Promoted to HC won a National Title.

If that's the case though, I'd rather See Greg Roman. He wants to Wear the Orange and White. If we have to settle for someone like Golden, I'd rather give Roman the shot.

Boom.

not believing that some still insist this is all for show and a done deal. That's just stupidity, tbh.

Gruden decided he didn't want to chase 18 yr olds around and be strapped by an ncaa rulebook and other limitations.

Can't say I blame him.

then why wouldn't they use a direct quote. The reporting of all this stinks. Just Wed night one news station led with "Chris Lowe reports Jon Gruden will not be the next Head of the University of Tennessee" and then has him on where he says "in my opinion" but they reported it as fact
I know. That's why I said that I don't believe everything the media puts out there. We are not going to know 100% until the next coach is announced. Things can change at any time.

Fair statement.

As long as one can look at what the AD releases and understand how CYA works its a little easier to figure out that your not gonna get complete truth.

It certainly could be a CYA especially considering this was told to a person that is a high level donar. I believe it matches with everything we have heard here and is an explanation for why the OGs thought this was done but it certainly doesn't have to be the full truth

Its certainly spin from one side or the other. I choose to believe the media and AD members over annonnomous message board posters that have been unwilling to look at any possibility of things changing over a matter of months.

So you believe the media?

Then what about the TFP article, which directly contradicts what your "AD member" claims.

Hagris is way more legitimate than Hubbs or any other media who has written or spoke on the matter.

I think assistants and former player involvement could go a long way towards uniting the fanbase too. If you add Tee to the staff with Graham regardless who we hire as coach and get the Al Wilson's and LL's coming to games and practices as a sign of solidarity the fans will come too. That's one thing we've been lacking.

I had a Surgeon (who is from Knoxville but practices in Nashville now) tell me at work on Monday that Tim Irwin told his dad "Grudens not coming and we don't want him". I didn't say anything on here because I was too busy going towards the light like a moth. ZAP!

I actually laughed out loud.

Hubbs is wrong about Fedora, apparently. I don't know. You can't trust anything now. It's very interesting.

The exciting thing is that at least we know Tenn is willing to spend some major $$$. If we throw some dough out there...someone will leave their job..even if they are relatively happy at the present time.

What ad members are you talking about? Named media sources?

I think one thing that people seem to forget is this ESPN contract that is apparently 'ironclad'.

When the Grumors first started months ago, the noise was that Gruden would be named coach after his MNF duties were over and that he really wanted to finish that job. Somewhere along the way, that stance was lost and the timeline moved up.

Let's assume for a minute that Gruden really did want/need to finish out the ESPN contract.... and the media started causing a ruckus on Wednesday like we experienced.

What options do Gruden and UT have at that point? He can't say that he's accepted the job and neither can UT. They both MUST deny. As we saw on Wednesday, a little denial on M&M won't cut it - it just took the excitement to another level. I think their hands were forced and they had to put something major out there and put it to rest.

You can call this rationalizing all you want - but for those who do want to say 'it's over' - I ask you this: Assuming Gruden has to wait until after MNF is over... explain to me what they would have done differently to this point instead?

Yeah, I was wondering this as well. Why believe our local media over Hargis who was willing to come on air here and passionately defended what he reported. All we get from local media is patronizing and condescending coverage.

I dont want anyone who doesn't want to be here.. and not just for money. I want someone who BELIEVES in the Orange and White.. Not just what he can get from us..

I want someone who wants ALL of us.. colors, passion, fan base, traditions, history, EVERYTHING.. If they don't then don't waste our time..

Surely we can agree on that
