Think about it, the SEC came out and asked us not to announce our coach before the SECC, the two schools including the SEC were getting upset bc the talks alone were somewhat overshadowing the SECC, and we already aren't on the greatest terms with the SEC.

You think Gruden and UT don't wanna get off on the wrong foot considering where we already stand with the SEC. I think not. What would be the best way to silence some of this talk? Possibly both sides come out and squash it so that we can move on and focus on the SECC and in the mean time get all these interviews out of the way?

I expect the Grumorz to start right back up at the beginning to middle of next week. Like babyvol said, lets just sit back and enjoy the show!

I post this late last night and post this. Wondering if anyone thinks this makes since or not. I feel like it could be a possibility...

1. Why in the world would Hart take the risk of pissing off the fan base, the boosters, and destroying the universities athletic department. I'm not a Hart fan but I can not wrap my brain around the fact that he is really so stupid that he thinks he's going to do what he wants to do, disregard what everyone else wants, and think it's going to come out okay for him. Really? He'd have to be a special kind of stupid to think that's going to work out him.

2. If Gruden really wasn't interested, why the harsh response from LeMonte. It's been stated before, if he wasn't interested, why didn't he issue a nice statement like he has in the past. And why was the statement not issued to a national publication/media outlet? If you're going to squash this rumor, squash it good!

3. There has been no statement from Gruden or the University. Not saying there ever will be but that fact keeps me from believing this thing is dead.

Until someone else is announced or walks up to the podium announced as the next HC, I will keep the faith and give Hart and Gruden the benefit of the doubt. Just my :twocents:

I hear you, but why would there be the reason for a stall? Does he have something he needs to wait on, because I don't think the Tampa Bay money is an issue. (See Cliff notes)

Zero chance they want it to be public they were willing to go to 10mil for the entire package. They still have a coach to hire you know.

As long as one can look at what the AD releases and understand how CYA works its a little easier to figure out that your not gonna get complete truth.

"Ongoing rumors" would include all of them I would imagine. If so then that would mean the rumors of Jon coaching at UT are fantasy. Maybe?

then why wouldn't they use a direct quote. The reporting of all this stinks. Just Wed night one news station led with "Chris Lowe reports Jon Gruden will not be the next Head of the University of Tennessee" and then has him on where he says "in my opinion" but they reported it as fact

I had a Surgeon (who is from Knoxville but practices in Nashville now) tell me at work on Monday that Tim Irwin told his dad "Grudens not coming and we don't want him". I didn't say anything on here because I was too busy going towards the light like a moth. ZAP!

If you REALLY want to get down to it, and I am putting on a flame retardant suit before I say this but keeping it real.....Franklin would probably be ahead of them both and just behind Strong if not for the chance of embarrassment over a public denial and subsequent bashing of the Vols.

Taking my UT glasses off Franklin did a great job at Vandy but because of the relationships and connotations he has to be 100% off of our list. Sometimes it's just that way. We'd come off as the older sister trying to take the younger sister's boyfriend just cause we'd put out more. We'd rightfully be the laughing stock if he turned us down too.

Bruin, they wouldn't have to. All they would have to do is say the problem is on Gruden's end. We just couldn't come to terms with him.

I can't help but agree with this...no way do we move the money, take this much time, get smoked like a thanksgiving turkey and not have some sort of design.

This gives me hope. No matter who we get after this coaching search, maybe in the future we can get Peyton to come home and coach UT Football! One can dream.

There wouldn't have to be one word of how much it was. Even if what you have said is true and I'm willing to go there because no one really knows right now then Hart did a lousy job of deflecting it from himself.
