I got a ticket in one of those podunk towns last year. The town right by the lake. $214 for "running a red light"....which I didn't do.

THAT'S how they make their money.

P.S. Side note, I spoke yesterday to Jennifer who son "Austin" OT 2013 class is committed to the Vols for this signing class. She says she still is told 6-10 days we will have a new coach and her son's scholly is safe for now so she is praying for a good coach for her son and everything will work out as her son is and always will be 100% VFL!!!!

Thanks for the edit. I was going to ask for a hint about who her son was (# of stars) so I could process "scholly is safe for now" statement.

This is the same thing Boro has been saying since last month "expect Hart to come in and look like he saved the day" and expect "large smokescreens" right before it gets closer to announcing.

We didn't fire Dooley before the meaningless Kentucky game, free up $18 million from donation to academics, and keep the local media locked out (literally absolutely in the dark) of the search for 1.5 weeks to go get some shmuck.

And Dave Hart hasn't been sitting on his rear doing nothing the last week without a darn good reason. If he is just starting the search this week/next he should be fired immediately. Everyone knows that. (And if he didn't plan to start the search this week, Dooley would coach vs. Kentucky. No reason to start the coach search timer sooner than necessary, right?)

The TFP report was too close to the truth, so Lamonte had to shut it down hard and fast for CJG to get whatever payment he is waiting on (ESPN, TB, whatever). The statement stings, but it doesn't shut the door. Not even close. It is very carefully worded.

Jon Gruden has too many ties to UT, has helped out at camps, is married to a UT alum whose family still lives in the area. The strong statement by the agent doesn't jive with this. If he were turning it down he would have done it in a much more polite, press release kind of way. It just doesn't jive.

He's awkwardly dismissed one rumor, but shut the conversation down quickly.

Hart isn't an idiot unlike what some here believe. Sure, he went to Bama, but are we forgetting he was the AD at Florida State for 12 years? He's been in major programs. He knows how to run a search. And he isn't dumb enough to go full bore against the big money because the big money will bail on him.

Big money runs college athletics. If -- and this is an if -- there is a group of large, influential boosters that want Gruden hired, it will be done. These people are billionaires and millionaires. They have run successful businesses and they know what it takes to turn around a business. And UT football is a struggling business right now. They understand revenues, marketing, drawing in customers (butts in seats), and so forth. They understand we were in a tough spot, so you hire the recent graduate with the MBA to stabilize your business. But recent grads with limited experience can only do so much. It's time for a new manager, one that will grow the business to the next level.

The silence from the AD is deafening and telling. Again, these are smart business people. Image and PR are a huge chunk of this. You don't let Gruden rumors hit the national stage to the point that every fan local or not is thinking we're going after him, if we aren't going after him. You would snuff that rumor out immediately.

If Hart supposedly soured the deal -- he knows his days at UT are over. Do you really think he is that dumb? He didn't survive 12 years at FSU being that dumb. You don't fight the power brokers when they are your boss. You have no leverage. Period.

This all, every last bit of it, seems to jive with what the OGs reported: done deal, lots of names will pop up, lots of misdirection, potential delays, and Hart saves the day.

So take a deep breath and hang tight. The water gets choppy on the way to paradise. Deny, deny, deny, then boom. It might take a few weeks. It might take until the end of MNF. Who knows. It won't matter because we'll still flip recruits. And that's a fact.

I'm all in until there is some other schmuck standing next to Dave Hart at a press conference being announced as coach.

I just have a hard time believing that this all was a conspiracy just so that Hart could swoop in at the last minute and be a hero. A little far fetched IMO. He would have been a hero for making the hire period. I don't see the benefit of all the draumatics.

Maybe hart and boosters are in a measuring contest. Gruden's agent fantasy land comment pissed me off. That one stings.

I agree. We will be settling. Big setback for TN. Long winter.

hey mayne.. ya'll read twitter on jon gruden. Im emberassed to be a UT fan right now after what grudes agent said, dam.n, what a friggin letdown... He coulda used some vasoline at least

Do u know anything about contracts and legal implications for breaking them. Gruden has got to be up to something. Hes not gonna let his agent say the things he did about tennessee and do that to his wifes alta mater. I think he has more class then his agents statement unless he purposely wanted that kind of attitude to come across?

As of Thursday night, I was 99% sure it was Gruden, with about 1% reservation.
Right now, I am about 99% sure it is not Gruden, with about 1% reservation.

If, IF, it is JG, he can't sign his NFL assistants yet anyway, right?
If, IF, it is JG, Hart wanted to look like he made the hire, and saved the day, right?
If, IF, it is JG, wouldn't be the first coach to reject publicly, and then sign, right?

The conspiracy theorist in me still holds out that small percent that this ain't over ... yet.

Her son is Austin Sanders but I have known his mom Jennifer and his aunt Lynn all my life as we grew up together in Harrison and I still talk to her on facebook from time to time.

I flat out asked her if she knew and she told me that Jay Graham and Pittman only tell her to wait 6-10 days biut don't worry about the scholly. She is really hoping that Pittman his OL coach and Graham both stay and his praying for both. I also asked her about the other kids keeping their commits and she said Austin is been facebooking them and keeping in touch to try and keep this class together and so far she thinks most will stay together.

She was only told a couple of names by one of the assistant coaches and Gruden's name was one of them along with 2 other names but she didn't discuss who they were because I think she doesn't want to tell me too much which I can respect and wouldn't ever pressure her into telling me. The only thing I can say is when I said Gruden 100% she sent me back a smiley face so whatever that means!!!!
