I had a great time last night reading the thread! I was so mad today when I realized what was going on, that I wanted to just leave work and drink. If you here Fire engines in West Knox tonight, it is just me burning the mattress in the front yard.

Since you said the ship has sailed, can you give the reason you believe that and has it been accuratedly reported today?.

Just curious.

UNLESS hart saving the day has been the plan the whole time, I just don't see it. If there is ANY truth to just 1 of the stories in the past 72 hours the only people who can save this deal are Big Orange Money guys.

Gruden was never Hart's #1 choice rather he was the big $$$ boosters first choice.

As time passes (and if the Gruden hire can't be salvaged by those who were initially brokering the deal), information will come to light that will show to the VolNation that Hart did sour the Gruden deal.

Mark my words, this mega screw-up rests squarely on Hart's shoulders and hopefully he will be held accountable for it. Before you blast me, keep this in mind:

Hart approved the hire of Sal S and paid way too much for his services;

Hart hoped to rehabilitate Dooley and wanted to keep around up until the Vandy loss forced Dooley's dismissal (for this reason alone, Volunteers should question Hart's judgment and his abilities as an AD);

Hart allowed Dooley to run roughshod over administrative staff in the football offices and AD offices;

Hart looked the other way while the Doolster willfully violated certain AA practice rules;

Hart has never made a big-time hire as an AD.

I will close by saying that Hart has done little to endear himself to the Volunteer faithful nor has he even earned his "bones" here. There were some well qualified Tennessee alum who would have been very good candidates for the AD position. It will be very interesting to see when that position becomes available given the latest events - perhaps it will be sooner than later.

Sounds kinda like LaMonte got pissed that Hart and Gruden spoke directly, thus cutting him out of the loop on the negotiations. Maybe the reason for his particularly venomous rant against Tennessee.

Didn't the OGs tell us that this is how it would be set up? Hart to the rescue...? Lots of misinformation and smoke?

Seriously, some of those rumors might have been true, but some of the stuff that focused around his family and personal life were downright fake and mildy disturbing (Webb Acceptance Ltr., Brown's ownership interest, etc.)

I don't blame Gruden; but I also think we can find a coach who can exceed even Gruden's expectations while coming for consideration of much less $ value. I don't know who that coach is, but I am confident that Dave Hart is diligently doing his homework and will make the best hire he can given all the circumstances.

Do you seriously think fans scared him away? If so, this is laughable. Do you not think Bama fans did the same things leading up to the Saban hire? This is what happens in todays media with the internet and a smart phone in every persons hand. Passionate fans are the same everywhere. Don't blame this on our fans. If this falls through. Its directly on Gruden or UT AD and/or boosters.

I think someone did this already, but i will give my take on this. Sorry for long post.

ok to the people that think im crazy. peyton manning is friends with haslams and has been trying to put this togeather for months. suddenly the university increases budget by 18million. who are we gonna hire and give 18million off the bat. nobody i know that isnt a huge huge name. also lets not forget saban countinully denied rumors until one day espn posts hes the coach of bama. now lets dispell the rumor about gruden wanted more money for assistance. money doesnt matter, haslams have it coming out of there ass. REMEMBER HASLAMS WANT HIM, they can afford it and probrobly is the last thing they care about. these people are multi billionaires. something is fishy here. also the editor at timesfreepress is sticking to his article released last night. he is 100% confident in his source saying he directly connected with the situation. grudens agent is going to deny it people to get his client more money, any agent is going to that. plus if espn finds out or the bucks with last pay check, gruden could be getting himself into legal trouble as long as his agent is saying he accepted a job. another thing is mnf, gruden is egotistical bit not dumb. he has class. he is not going to do that tovespn. take it for whats it worth but this makes perfect sense. So in conclusion there seems to be a problem at the ad department and my guess it is with hart. So they deny the rumors from both sides. They need to squash it because they dont want media putting gruden on the spot and him slipping up. One word and tampa bay probrobly would contact thrre lawyers. Lets think about this they both deny ever talking prior to this week. Are u f-ing kidding me!!!

I believe the reports from today, including Lamontes piece. It lines up with what AD sources have said all along. Thats why I am leaving predictions up to Skeeter and LWS that obviously know far more than me or about anyone else in this thread when it comes to the AD. Boosters are full of ****.

You can say what you want. Your the only one of the OGs I have a problem with. You rode coat tails and flipped which ever way the wind blew like a little b!tch. I don't think you ever had any "sources" like some of the others OGs. Maybe your a janitor in an office where people in the know work and you thought you overheard something, who knows. There's nothing wrong with being wrong but to constantly flip back and forth shows you are mentally weak. I don't see why anyone would believe anything you say.
