Well obviously today was wrong, I was hopeful that the info on this part was correct. I apologize for this.

After talking to several people this afternoon, I am still not giving up. I still believe that this will get done.

Before some of you flame, and you will, go back and read I-III and read some of the details about saving the day.

Curious what you've found out. If you didn't see, I posted last night that I received 2 simultaneous text messages giving me the bad news. Made me think something "happened" perhaps a discussion that went awry or a door slammer. Same folks that told me 5 days ago all was still full go.

So - I am thinking long shot but anything is possible. What are your folks saying that gives you hope? Did they know about the deal going sour? I'm trying to connect the dots here. There is more to this...

Ran across this quote from Nic Saban after a press conference (i think 3 years ago). Very interesting and relevant.

On if the team took a step forward or a step backwards in ‘The Process’:

“What I told the team yesterday was most people get motivated when something bad happens. They have a disappointment or they feel some kind of pain, and then all of the sudden they want to change or do things better, practice better, work harder and change whatever and listen to what the coaches say and all those kind of things. We don’t have that kind of circumstance. We actually need to develop the right habits, the right characteristics of what we do and how we do it, so that we can improve and get better without having to go through something bad happening. So, the challenge is to play at a high-standard and to prepare at a high standard, to motivate yourself at a high standard all the time, so that you don’t get bad consequences. That’s a difficult thing to do because I think it’s kind of fighting human-nature a little bit. People get satisfied to easily. When we lost to LSU last year, that was a big motivating factor to finish the season and probably a big motivating factor in winning the next game that we played. We don’t have that right now. Are we going to be a team that can show enough character to not have that to happen before we continue to work and improve and have the leadership and do the things we need to do so we don’t sit around and say, ‘We started dreaming about the possibilities of what we could of done, if we would have done it right or if we would have prepared better.’ The solution is pretty obvious. Do it right to start with, and prepare the right way. This was a difficult preparation though. It’s like when we played Auburn when [Gus] Malzhan was there. It’s difficult to get the defense ready. It’s difficult to get them to understand the pace of the game. They’re defense really played hard, did a lot of stunting and blitzing, moving. They are quick. They affected our running game a little bit.”

Been doing a little thinking....
1) why fire Dooley before Kentucky, if you're just now starting to interview?

2). Why not come out and say SOMETHING about Gruden not being in play, knowing that 97.6% of Vol fans want him, and are talking about religiously?

This. :good!:

How do you do that without speaking to UT?

I'm not interested in naysayers' opinions who just want to doom and gloom, but to all of you serious Vols: I challenge you to go and read Dave Hart's press coference when he fired Dooley. Specifically, read his responses to questions. Tell me who he is describing, and who he is speaking to when describing the coach he intends on hiring. It is absolutely not Strong, Fedora, Patterson, Fisher, Golden, Smart. If you seriously think a man with his job and legacy on the line would go 3 weeks before even speaking to a candidate, you do not need to be scoping football rumors, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about or how this process works. I'm in, more so than yesterday

Except, the agent said that Hart had not talked to HIM. Hyams said that Hart spoke directly with Gruden. Small difference.

Good Lord Carter how many times are you gonna say your leaving this thread and keep posting in it, lol.

Made some good friends here man, thats it. Not posting about Gruden anymore, at least in regards to him coming. That proverbial ship has sailed. Having a hard time not calling out a couple people but can bite my lip. There is a troll here right now keeping peoples hopes up with garbage, but then again many of you think I did the same thing even though I never shared anything I heard that I did not 100% believe. I wish I could name names lol.

I'm in as well. Don't post much, but follow the thread pretty regularly. All of the sources that are debunking Gruden to UT all have different rings to them. They just don't jive together...at all. Something's amiss! bcartervol...hope you come back, and come back with 'I got smokescreened! ALL IN!'

Until then...we'll just see who ends up at the podium.

I'm all in...

Like the Pheonix, Tennessee Football will emerge from the ashes as a re-newed program. Through this thread and grudenites, a Coach named Jon Gruden will bring himself to return us to greatness.

I say do not lose the vision, if we stand together who can tear us down!!

Agree. I think we are seeing some really poorly executed delaying.

I still contend that something last minute derailed plans and they were put into emergency-delay mode.

Whether that last minute emergency was a snag they thought they could work out, Slive saying no presser today, or the Bucs payment... who knows... but it just doesn't seem like there have been major complications until today.

Just a quick thing about the whole "No Presser Announcements before the SECC". It's my understanding that there is no official rule against it. However, the SEC requires each SEC school to have their main PR people attend the SECC to help the event run. Their absence is punishable by steep fines. This essentially eliminates each school's ability to hold pressers. What better way to have a rule, than by having none at all? (If this is incorrect, please correct.)
