Again , they are decent coaches in weak conferences. We need a great coach.. but cool story, bro

They turned those programs around very quickly. They're great coaches, you're just oblivious to it, because you aren't capable of doing a little research.

Hart and Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director Jon Gilbert arrived at a private jet service building earlier sometime around noon and departed. Their travels took them to a locale for at least one interview. The one interview that did happen was with Louisville head coach Charlie Strong.

Sources indicated that Tennessee may have interviewed another candidate as Hart and Gilbert were either gone or at the private jet service building until sometime between 6:45pm and 8:30pm.

If Tennessee did interview another candidate it would have likely North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora and here's why. Hart made it clear at his press conference that he would not interview a candidate who was still coaching in the regular season.

Well it has nothing to do with gruden being owed money from tampa, just read the link on the cliff notes tread. They finished paying him last year, so if it's cover up it' has to be cause of espn

Gruden wanted this job. It was his and he knew that, and had told a select few that he was excited about it.

I believe you had said it earlier; "Gruden told people he was coming", and you're right. I, with you, disagree with the other gentleman.

I'm still rolling with what I've been told and what I know. I just with my buddies would get back to me as to what exactly happened in the last 24 hours. I, for one, do not believe that as many things have changed as we're being led to believe. Media is an outlet for bargaining/games, and again with what I have been fed, believe that is what we're seeing.
Mayne... you got to quit posting dude....your giving me hope again:spank::spank::spank::spank::spank::spank:

This thread keeps me entertained while I am at work with nothing to do. Been a long shift and alot of Gruden pages. Although I love all this, I believe that it may be dead. I was aboard until today...now I am just going to sit back and pray that we don't land another Louisiana Tech caliber coach. If this happens to be the greatest smokescreen in history, then I will probably take a vacation and come celebrate in Knoxville for a few days. My only concern with all this is the fact that Hart nor Gruden have come out and said point blank "Jon Gruden is not coming to Tennessee." I know that Gruden's agent speaks for him, but still to not hear anything from him is interesting to me. Hart has not came out to say anything either which also confuses me. You would think with all this hype, he would dismiss this so we, as fans and supporters of Tennessee Athletics by way of filling seats, could cool our jets a bit. I know that Hart probably doesn't sit on VN and read through the Gruden threads like the rest of us, but with all the media publicity it would only seem right for him to say something, regardless if it is good or bad news. I hope that the next coach we get can restore Tennesse to its glory. I have grown up knowing Tennessee football as a big deal, and it pains me to see it how it is now. Hope everyone has a good night! #GBO #VFL

Man is just stating his opinion, which is fine, but I would respectfully disagree. Gruden wasted an awful lot of time, lining up a staff, etc, if his goal was just to toy with us. There are much easier ways to go about this. Especially considering they had everyone bending over trying to keep it OUT of the media. Rather, I might guess that his sources were wrong, so he never quite had the context correct. Having said that, I dont know what he knows, so it would be unfair to say that one or another.

Him not having the context correct makes sense and could change a lot

I understand that how you fel about that I really do. Many previous people I have talked to felt the same way. I have found though once they heard the details was..... oh nevermind..
The biggest details have been dome by those paying the bills since October. UT athletics are financially broke. They can hardly afford to promote Cheney without these guys.

He knows only what he is spoon fed by the spoon fed Knoxville media. IMO.

LWS has more connections than just the Knoxville media. I'm not saying he knows everything and he will even admit that alot of it is his opinion, but the guy isn't relying on Hyams or Basillo for anything.

I'm not sure.

Take the post Pearl basketball search. Hamilton sought the council of Ernie Grunfield and people in the basketball community. Rather than going with a hot name like S. Smart...we got Martin. Hamilton never would have arrived at that conclusion w/o EG.

In this case, it appears, Manning and others have given Hart advice and he is either, playing the game to fit with Gruden's timeline or he's ignoring the advice.

I do not have any E - Cred, no sources, no friends in high places. I'm a football guy, played, coached, study...this is a power play and you don't line up in a power I and run to the formation unless you can win.

This buisness about Tennessee being to big of a job for Gruden, I do not buy. That's a loser mentality and I don't know him, but that dog don't hunt.

I, like you, have no source's, e-cred, etc etc.. And I 100% agree this is a power play but with out the boosters this thing we love doesn't go.. If the Boosters say no then that's it, they will sign off on this hire..

But I thought EG was on the Pearl hire not Martin, I could be totally wrong on this i'll admit I have no idea. So as it pertains to council I take that as what it is.. Personality factors too much on how you receive help and judging by Hart he doesn't like being told anything.

Your last point has been a sticking point for me I just cant let go.. That plusthis business of him leveraging us for an NFL job is complete BS, I love UT but no college job is better than the NFL period.. I think JG really wanted to come here too much suggests this I personally believe it just got F'd up

Not trying to be controversial or whatever I just like a good debate

Dave Hart will be to landing Gruden what James Wilhoit was to beating Florida in 2004. Goat to hero. Wilhoit's miss was an accident, though. Smoke and mirrors. And I'm not buying that Dave Hart is so inept as to just realize this morning there were "rumors" going around. "Courtesy call?" Here's my call: BS.

No "inside sources" here, just common sense. The craziest thing about today is how quickly the majority of folks have dismissed the possibility of Gruden still coming to UT. And based on what? A statement from Gruden's agent, and another statement from another "unnamed source"" (a UT employee who wasn't supposed to say anything so he had to speak anonymously)?

I read the quote from Gruden's agent in the KNS. Are they the only organization he spoke to? And if so, did KNS call him or did he call KNS?

Was Ron Higgins duped by a source a while back when he tweeted of a major deal being planned to present to Gruden?

Was Glenn Carver stupid enough to base his report (Brown ownership stake) based on some second hand or internet message board? Ditto for Steven Hargis.

But move on folks, nothing to see here. Hyams and KNS said so, based on their "inside sources" which I'm guessing to be UTAD folks spinning for their own benefit.

Just my two cents. Flame away.

Listen to Hargis' radio interview from earlier today. It will piss you off at whoever screwed this up. I'm leaning wayyyy towards Hart!

Sorry buddy. 'Logic' is my base-line reasoning for any situation. Not emotion or anything else. If I can't see the logic behind something that I'm seeing or hearing, then I do not believe it to be true.

I don't mean to mislead anyone, so I'm sorry. :cray:
