Admittedly off topic, I just feel the need to say it. I was saved when I was 17 yrs old. I have found my conscious has been getting the better of me for "Liking" all the GTFO posts and all the ugly words I have used here the past "feels like a month or longer." One must understand to criticize the sin one does is to mock the grace and mercy of our Lord. Don't know why I felt the need to say that, just did. Now, I have a headache from the days events and I'm going to grab a bottle of moscato. Gruden soon!!

Shelby county has more Memphis fans because Memphis is in Shelby county (I know, right?)... In every other county, there are more Tennessee fans than any other team. I’ve lived in West Tennessee all my life. McNairy, Weakley, Madison, and now Shelby. UT is the dominant fan base in West TN by far.

And some of those Memphis fans root for both teams when they don't play each other because they have some sort of allegiance to each team. There are a lot of Memphis parents whose kids went to UT. So they want to see each school do well.

Man....the people that call into Basilio are real pieces of work. I always knew I didn't listen to him for a reason, but this is like listening to the Paul Finebaum show. These people are trying to act like they have a clue as to what is going on.

It's just radio's version of volnation

What upsets me about the tweet from swain is, if he had that info, why wait until now? Put the info out there. Doing it like this is cowardly.

i listen everyday and to me it's ovious that swain respects the position of UTs head coach. By listening you can tell that he does not think Butch is a great guy, but he had refrained from airing any dirty laundry about Butch as long as he was the coach. Well he gone, and I can not wait to listen to what Swain has to say tomorrow. Swain is trying to balance his loyalty to the team and the University as a former player, with his position in the local media.

Appreciate the honesty.

I'm in the Memphis suburbs brah (and UT grad)....perception I guess. Agree to disagree? Don't need an invitation to the Waffle House....too much cholesterol :p

Yea, because they are all around me. May not be a majority of that's what you think I am saying. But I could round up a hell of a lot of UT fans in my area.

Just a thought (and anyone with anymore analytical ability than myself please chime in) but why would we announce Hoke as the Interim just to announce Gruden as the HC later on that day? I’m still at 60-70% just think the timing might be more like the end of the season for an announcement? Or maybe I just should GTFO for the day?....ok I’ll escort myself out.

I'm sorry, but if that little man ask me to write "I'm a
P...y 100 times in front of my teammates, I would have said I'll be happy
To write the first on your f.....g forehead and taken the consequences.

For folks like VFL92 casting doubt on the Tennessee Volunteers being Tennessee's team, there are, from time to time, surveys done of the college football world. These surveys generally come out in the form of maps, showing how people answered when asked their favorite team. Maps like this one, from The Sports Flavor:

35d0212649d2cad29d8aa6d271d83988--football-team-football-season.jpg

They always show Tennessee in orange, with a small dot of black in the West End of Nashville for the (very small and isolated) Vandy community, and a somewhat bigger bubble of Memphis Tigers blue in Shelby County.

The whole rest of the state, East, Middle, and West? Volunteer country.

Nashville is Volunteer country. Much of Memphis is as well. Knoxville is. Chattanooga is. Murfreesboro is. Clarksville, too. And Jackson. The Tri-Cities. Tullahoma-Shelbyville-Manchester. Bucksnort, yes even Bucksnort.

They're the Tennessee Volunteers. Period.

Ok, before we get off on an off-topic discussion, I'm not saying the Vols aren't Tennessee's team. In any county in TN, there would be more UT fans than any other school, but in my experience from living in, and traveling in, other states there seems to be less loyalty than some states. I grew up in Chattanooga, went to UT, and now live in the Nashville area. I love the Vols and there has always been a huge contingency of Vols in those areas, but you sure see a lot of bumper stickers and flags flying for Bama, Ole Miss, Auburn, and other schools these days.

Not trying to pick a fight here. We all love the Vols and want the same thing.

Back to Gruden.

Better not hear search firm ..its a process...due diligence getting it right..not quick but right BS. But since he prob doesn't run things we most likely will hear that even with everything else happening around him. MOU etc..

I said this back in Gruden thread 26:

When the axe falls, prepare yourselves for Currie's press conference re: the coaching search.

He most likely will say things that are going to test the faith of a lot of Grudenites, myself included.

warreng followed up with this:

Yep. "Search Firm/Committee"

Probably some other phrases too, such as "history of academic excellence".
