Whoever is telling you that obviously doesn't understand what "getting worse" means because it is getting worse. Regardless of who the next hire is (including Gruden), we are getting to the point of diminishing returns.

That's the thought process around here from a few

Even with solid evidence as to why it is the outcome is the same

I think Butch is actively trying to sabotage TN football. My evidence?

--Worst home-field beating since the 1900's
--15 straight quarters without an offensive TD
--If an earlier tweet is correct the worst beating by an unranked opponent in AP history
--Barely beating several non-SEC opponents multiple times in a season
--0 for the SEC so far
--Losing streak to EVERY SINGLE SEC school

If Butch screws around and causes us to have our first 8 loss season EVER he'd better get outta Knoxville half-way through the 4th quarter of the Vanderbilt game. There'll be actual pitchforks and torches in play at that point.

Interim or not... Do the results of this season really matter at this point?
It hasn't helped Florida.

That we have people that still think he can save his job, or that Currie is still evaluating... Is laughable.

I will give Currie Credit. He runs a tight ship and stuff doesn’t leak for the most part. He has kept everyone guessing.

Butch is that houseguest that won't leave. At first he was cool, paid a little rent, helped wash dishes, cleaned around the house.

Now he just lays on the couch, hogging the remote, doesn't bathe, doesn't do anything around the house, and takes dumps in the toilet without flushing.

You've tried throwing hints for him to go, tried telling him to go, but he won't go anywhere.

First, Gruden wants the job. This is his preferred job. Over all the other jobs. I have this on very good authority. I know. I know. Unnamed sources aren't tolerated. I don't really care.

Second, we believe all the boosters are now rowing in the same direction. The only problem then would be Currie standing in the way which would be career suicide. Unlikely. Although he may be hesitating to pull the butvh trigger because it wasn't his initial plan.

Third, these sorts of transitions are incredibly complex. It is silly to think this is as simple as firing one coach and hiring another. Information must be closely guarded. There is so.much.money at stake here on every side. Currie has a tremendously vested interest in misdirecting and sending out false info. These things happen all the time in the corporate world. The difference is there aren't fans of companies like P&G becoming OCD about reading a chat board over it.

And this is why all that matters is landing who we want. It is so much more important than who is still coaching. I don't like Jones being on the sideline at this point anymore than anyone else, but putting a interim coach from our staff in at this point isn't going to help matters any if there is internal fighting on the staff. We just have to let it play out, in reality we have no choice. There will be plenty of time for complaining or praising when the dealing is done! So here is too everything coming up ACES! SOON!!!! GRUDEN as Coach of the TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS!!!!!!

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but do you think this is all about a power struggle between the boosters and the AD? Allowing them to bring in their guy (Gruden) and front so much of the bill would be equivalent to handing the keys to the AD over to the boosters.

It’s just embarrassing. Every week we wait to make his firing official is embarrassing to the program.

Worked for LSU, Miami, and even USC. Scott went on a tear as an interm coach.

At this point, if I were Currie and was turned down by Gruden, I certainly would make it known somehow publicly that HE turned us down. That we gave more than a generous offer and the ball was in his court.

I'm tired of messing around if Gruden decides against it. I love the fact he considers Tennessee a great school and whatnot, but in my irritability factor this morning, I'd dump a tanker truck's worth of gasoline on that bridge and strike a match. I'd make sure everyone knew he was the one that was unreasonable in the discussions.

Call it a petty, scorned ex-girlfriend posting your information on a VD alert site type of move, but I'd damn sure make everyone know we bent over backwards to accommodate the hire.

This could be because I'm tired, cranky and downright angry over what happened last night. But that's how I feel.

At this point I would tell Gruden (if we are talking with him as we have been told) It is time to decide, our program is burning to the ground.... If you want this job, we will do what ever is necessary to see you get it... However we are at a point that we need a decision!

But that is just me....

I agree with you! As much as I love Gruden and would do back flips if he became our coach, this flirting and going back and forth every damn search is getting old. It gets our hopes way up and then we get dumped on. If he truly just loves Tennessee the way he talks, then show us some damn respect and say this job isn't for you. Doesn't have to go on and on this long.

People who are saying it's just like 2012 are really saying that the EMOTIONS are the same. Not the facts. Because the facts are clearly NOT the same.

Most can't separate the emotional from the equation though. And so you have everyone convinced their hearts will be broken again.
