Official Jon Gruden Thread 30

I understand why some of you are saying wait until after Vandy, but Butch has given so many reasons to get canned officially after the next loss.

1. His coaching is awful first and foremost
2. His handling of Kendrick situation
3. He is a grade A a**hole and caused a VFL to quit.
4. He is throwing shade at a 17 year old kid at a press conference for decommitting. I mean come on Butch!!

I mean there’s probably quite a few more reasons I didn’t name too.(losing to Kentucky) I just think if he loses to a bad Mizzou team he needs to go. I understand the timing of things, but it’s time if he loses to Mizzou. There’s no getting bowl eligible with a loss this weekend.

If they are basing the timing off bowl eligibility, then in theory they will wait until we are actually not eligible. I agree that a loss this weekend pretty much seals that deal but mathematically it doesn’t. Then you have to ask yourself, is it worth it for UT to fire Butch with one game left?

I honestly believe that he’s being kept on for a few reasons. I think the some of the players (seniors) honestly want to finish out the season with him. But more importantly, I don’t think Fulmer or Gruden want Butch fired midseason. And if you believe Gruden is on the hook, and you believe that he doesn’t like seeing coaches let go midseason based on his FFCA thing, there’s no reason to do it except to appease a segment of the fan base. Additionally, I know there were empty seats last week but it was still a strong turnout all things considered. People want Butch out but if the timing is what the timing is, who cares as long as we’ve got our guy, which I believe we do.

Holy crap guys....I just got a call from a VERY good friend in the AD that will give this thread a reason to believe. I will leave it at that as to not out my friend. You can look through my post history and see I have not always been a believer, this call took me from a 0% to a 65-70%. There is a chance.

Hmm? I'm here if I need you

Worse than CNN. At least CNN tells us the fake news, and not just says “boy do I have some news for you, too bad we aren’t gonna report it”

No, I just wont throw out what he said or who he is out of respect to him. It's someone I trust - and it is not "we are getting Gruden" its more of a "pieces are coming into place" and gave me a reason to believe more than I ever have. You can choose to believe or not.

One way or another this thing will be over by Thanksgiving. We're almost there. Just a little further now

Somebody check his stats.

There is a little market on Sand mtn in Al. called Dobbins. They make their on sausage. It is the best in the world.

Speaking of Sand Mountain, @ Preacher you might be interested in a book..."Salvation on Sand Mountain" very interesting read regarding a reporter following a snake-handling church and an associated court case. The story makes reference to Newport. It is a very interesting story based on actual events and people.

I wouldn't say I have "stats" but as you can see by my posts I don't post just to post. I wouldn't throw s*** to the wall just to see if it sticks. Again, I am not saying I was told that Gruden is in or some BS - but I was told about specific measures and pieces falling into place that gave me reason to believe. I'm not 100% in, but I was at a 0 before the call.

Maybe you’re telling the truth. But you can’t objectively look at what you said and tell me with a straight face that it’s not in the slightest bit ridiculous

Many of us have already been believing for quite some time and are higher than 70%. Care to elaborate a bit more?

Edit: just saw your subsequent posts. Fair enough.

I’m an engineer and have a co-worker who lives on sand mountain. He is actually one of the smartest guys I’ve met, and excels in what we call “sand mountain ingenuity”. He could fix a 3 inch water line blow out with some duct tape, gorilla glue, and zip ties if he wanted to.

TIFWIW

FROM THE V4L Facebook group

Just passing along the post.

*BREAKING NEWS* Well guys some huge news is on the horizon. My brother knows a guy on the board that isn’t going to be mentioned that has informed him tonight that 4 hours ago or so we inked a deal with the man himself Jon Gruden to be the next head coach of UT football, a booster at UT paid out all coaching staffs that aren’t sticking around buyouts and Peyton was the one in the meeting room that said Jon Gruden was the future of Tennessee Football and that was said with the backing of many people, the announcement should be leaking on Sunday and along with that he was also informed that with the signing of Jon Gruden, Cade Mays is going to recommit. I️ know this sounds like just another Grumor but it’s from a source I️ trust very much and although nothing isn’t a rumor until it happens this one is one I️ believe whole heartedly. With that being said GO VOLS!!!!! I️ hope this is all real life come Sunday!!!!!

I am so stoked....been waiting for this for years!
Been telling my friends for weeks that Gruden was going to be our coach and that tennessee football would be back!

Your post that a friend inside the AD called you with this info, really solidifies my theory on the timing, which is as follows:
-I don't think Butch can do anything to stay an extra week or lose an extra week. I think this all comes down to getting the ink dry on Gruden, and him getting whatever pieces in place (OC, DC) that he wants before the announcement is made. I think Currie wants to do it all within 48 hours, and likely less time than that. I think that you getting a phone call from someone within the AD demonstrates a significant shift in what is going on there. More people have to know to get paperwork together and other administrative duties, in order for the announcement to be made.

I think the train might really be starting to pull into the station. I don't think they would make any announcements prior to Saturday's game, but I honestly don't think the timing of this has squat to do with the current team, bowl eligibility, or Butch's record (criminal or otherwise).

Same guy that told you this?

Had to do a report on that book in college. It is a good read. Was there not a Dateline Special that interviewed that reporter as well?

My personal opinion...anyone that says it will happen this Sunday is FOS. If it didn’t happen after UK, there’s no reason to do it now, save for something drastic occurring and that wouldn’t be planned ahead of time. I’m 99% Gruden but I really don’t think it will be announced until the end of the year. My guess is Butch is publically let go after
vandy and Gruden is announced in the lead up to the SEC championship. Wouldn’t be surprised if Butch coaches the bowl game as well, assuming we make one and assuming he doesn’t have a new job to step into immediately.

This scenario makes sense if indeed Gruden is hired. Maximum BOOM.
