Mullen is another Mark Richt. He’s a good coach but his cap will be 10 wins at UT. Very boring hire, not winning an SEC championship and much less a NC anytime soon. He might be 5th or 6th on my list

I get the comparison, but Mullen isn't even close to a Richt. He is quite a bit less than Richt.

Would UGa or UF worry if we hired Dan Mullen? LOL, hell no they wouldn't.

But guys if Mullen has a juice bar to recruit with he will get all the 5 stars and be so much better than Butch

GTFO with this nonsense!

Quit with the excuses. You are probably the same type of fan who was running through excuses for Butch after Vandy last year.

Bottom line, Mullen hasn't improved the program over what Sherrill did. Great coaches win, wherever they go.

No, actually I’m not that guy.
I’m simply saying again that Tennessee could do worse and Mullen wouldn’t be worse than Dooley as some of you think.

Doesn't count my ***

GTFO

So in his morning update, GV queried about the absence/silence of Boro, DTO, etc. I can't speak for those gentlemen, but I can say this from the two people who provided info to me. They both played distinct and specific roles in the process of identifying and hiring a new football coach. Their tasks were completed, and the process moved past their areas of involvement. They are not likely to have any additional relevant information for me until there is announcement. This is a good thing, and one reason I am 99% confident. If they were to have new information, it would suggest to me that we have hit a snag or that for whatever reason we lost our first target. This is my version of the "quiet confidence" that Boro and DTO reference.

Edit: Mullen chatter is garbage. :)

You missed the point there...but let's play, yes you are correct and Mullen would be more of the same. Tennessee deserves better!

And you continuously miss what im saying.

It’s not the end of the world if Tennessee signs Mullen. The typical Tennessee move is to sign another mid major hopeful and see what happens

Who said he did?

We can do so much worse. It’s ridiculous to think he’s the bottom of the barrel in the coaches pool

I don't think he's a horrible coach. He would be an upgrade but that's not saying much. But why would you go for a Minivan when you can get a Ferrari?

Dan Mullen?? :lolabove: Oh man that's exactly what we need... another coach that literally couldn't get it done in the SEC. 9 years in the SEC with a losing record in the conference. Please tell me how this would be any type of upgrade. Actually, no don't... I'm just here waiting on Gruden with a smile on my face

Whoops. Apparently when I said "Actually, no don't..." all of the rebellious tendencies kicked in and everyone started making the Mullen argument. But this is Gruden XXX and we can't fill a great thread name like that with sissy talk. We're all in agreement that my old 4A HS coach could come do a better job but we Grudenites want National Championships because this is the University of Tennessee... not the University of Miami (Ohio). So that's why we're hiring Gruden. If you would just calm down and be patient.

Beav on. Grude on. Happiness awaits.

Huh?!?! Where on earth did you pull this number from? Mississippi is a worse state for talent than TN, and we still have to recruit in other states around TN because TN isn't one of the top states. Though it is getting much better every year.

Per capita, Mississippi has more players in the NFL then any other state.
