Mullen is slightly better than Butch. Is that what we have endured 10 LOOOOOOOOONG years for? To bring in boring a$$ Dan Effing Mullen? He will have us 3rd most years in the East, maybe a 2nd here and there. He isn't winning the SEC though. He isn't taking us to the playoffs....SO WHATS THE POINT?!?!?!?! Hey I'm not arguing FOR Mullen. Wouldn't be my first or fifth choice. But from the view point of coaching ability, I just disagree with everything you're stating.

Mullen will do VERY well should he want/take a job somewhere in the upper echelon of notoriety in any league.

I just had a coworker tell me his uncle is a booster of some sort and the hire has already been made and it’s not Gruden. I assume he couldn’t possibly know that right

How high up the food chain? I imagine there's maybe 5-6 boosters that really know what's going on.

We have been far less of a football threat than state for the past 15 years. We would be lucky to have Mullen or any competent coach at this point. He is light years ahead of butch as far as coaching goes.

I thought Urban was the coach...you know the same coach who went to OSU and has them competing for titles...while your boy Mullen has been down in Starkville watching big job after big job after big job pass him by...all the while watching him finish in the bottom half of the SEC West.

Butch Jones isn't 1/3 the coach Mullen is. So many of these points are ridiculous. Mullen is a really good coach. No doubt. Starkville is a cow pasture. You can't get big recruits to come there. Period.

That being said, there are a few guys higher on my list than Mullen, no doubt. But he's not a bad option whatsoever. If he was hired today he'd probably be the best coach in the East immediately.

The time to take advantage of a weak SEC East is over. We had two years to build something special but we failed and now Georgia is elite. Getting to Atlanta for the SEC Championship once per 3-4 years is a reasonable goal.

No, I would not. Mullen is where he needs to be. He was good at Florida because of the QB known as Tebow. His best success at Starkville came with Prescott. Granted, every coach has those players that help them "increase their coaching stock", but Tennessee needs a coach that can win, and win quickly. Mullen might be able to do that, but maybe Butch can too. So, with that, we need a "can't miss hire"...Gruden fits that bill. Sure, there are some others, but Gruden is our man...hence the title of this thread... So maybe your support for Mullen should lend for you to consider an alternate thread...

And Dale Jones brother's employee's son says Dale has been contacted about interest in coming back to TN as a position coach for Gruden (those posts and tweets have been deleted though).

I’ve said this a couple of times. He never sad his silence was indicative of Gruden being done. He said if it WAS done and he knew it, he wouldn’t post it here because it wasn’t his place to do so.

FYI: Tampa Bay is 45-83 since Jon Gruden was fired and now there are grumours of Tampa wanting him back.

An easy way to make it seem like Gruden isn't a done deal, leak a story connecting him to an NFL team.

Yea, because Mississippi State will always keep up with the likes of Ole Miss, LSU, and Bama in recruiting and resources to do so.

Again, travel down to Starkville and ask yourself if you want to be there for 4 years.
