FYI: Tampa Bay is 45-83 since Jon Gruden was fired and now there are grumours of Tampa wanting him back.
No, I would not. Mullen is where he needs to be. He was good at Florida because of the QB known as Tebow. His best success at Starkville came with Prescott. Granted, every coach has those players that help them "increase their coaching stock", but Tennessee needs a coach that can win, and win quickly. Mullen might be able to do that, but maybe Butch can too. So, with that, we need a "can't miss hire"...Gruden fits that bill. Sure, there are some others, but Gruden is our man...hence the title of this thread... So maybe your support for Mullen should lend for you to consider an alternate thread...
Dak Prescott, Tim Tebow, and Alex Smith are 3 great QBs.
He's done as well as you can do with very mediocre talent available in what was the hardest division in the league.
With the recruiting bump he would get at Tennessee, he will kick ass.
That being said, there are a few guys higher on my list than Mullen, no doubt. But he's not a bad option whatsoever. If he was hired today he'd probably be the best coach in the East immediately.
Mullen isn't beating UGa and UF on a consistent basis here. You say he is a good coach, his record says otherwise. He hasn't taken MSU to new heights. They are the same as they have always been. If Mullen was a good coach, a big P5 school would have already snagged him out of there.
Ever been to Starkville Mississippi?
They dont have the facilities
They dont have the resources
They definitely dont have the budget
All of which he would have instantly at Tennessee
Oh, theres that time he took them to #1 too. Whens the last time Tennessee was ranked that high?
