As much as I'd like to see Gruden to the Hill, I'm not convinced he wants to take part in the rebuilding of this hot mess, called the Vols, are you?opcorn:
AV is not Hubbs, or the riddler. Dont have to read between the lines. He said theres a plan, and then a plan beyond that plan (that he, but not everyone would like).
Some have taken that to say a coach it waiting plan. I believe if you have to go beyond the first plan to a plan most, but not all will like, thats a plan B hire thats not gruden (which is fine if we get the right guy).
Others have taken it differently. I think people are so honed in a Gruden they wont consider anyone talkin about a 2nd option.
From my outside view of this, there is more going on then we see, or that we think we know. There are a few in here that really does have access to some of the inter-workings and just because what they may decide to share doesn't line up from our perspective, doesn't mean they should be discounted. More levels to it than that.

"From what I understand his assistants dont want to distract their current players, so out of respect to them they dont want an announcement made until after next Saturday"
UCLA opened up
Chip will meet with them
Chip will most likely choose UCLA
Frost goes to Neb
They throw Hail Marys at Mullen
If the story about Mullen and Florida is true Mullen and his wife will split before he goes back there
No sources, just a theory.
What if in negotiating Butch's buy-out a commitment was made to Sexton that a certain number of his clients would be interviewed for the position.
What if UT agreed to this commitment, but at some point Gruden talk got serious enough that a MOU was signed.
Enter Sexton, who screams bloody murder and threatens to blow the top off of the buy-out agreement, break silence, etc. etc.
Enter Haslams, who according to many have been more loyal to Sexton than to UT with regard to personnel decisions - who begin pressuring Currie to honor deal with Sexton
This leads to delays in completing final deal (beyond MOU) with Gruden
Again, this is hypothetical, with no sources. But is a scenario where you could have a "done deal" (MOU) with Gruden, but still have major hurdles to deal with (i.e. Sexton and Haslams), before finalizing and announcing.
