Official Greg Schiano thread

Just can't believe you are going for the stadium upgrade and you pick Schiano as your face man. No way. I think Schiano was probably offered lesser jobs this past couple of years, but I just don't to think he fits Curries reported preferences...namely SEC experience. He'd be better off going with Jeremy Pruitt.

Michigan, USC, and Oregon wanted him as their HC....

Those are not lesser programs.
He has been wanting the right fit for him.

He is extremely close friends with Nick Saban. Bet he wants to come and play vs his buddy.

You know this for a fact how?

Ohio state vetted him before they hired him as DC

Oregon & USC wanted him as their HC and vetted him.

So multi-million dollar university's have vetted him and are good with his accounts. But you have some information that these university's don't have????

Please share and inform us all.

People are gonna think what they want. I know folks who still call Ray Lewis a murderer. Facts rarely matter when it comes to public perception.

They interviewed him......does not mean they wanted him....... He did not turn them down to become a DC..... They did not pick him.

LOL! Are you saying he turned down those schools and instead took a prep school job so he could wait for the UT job to open? So he could play with his buddy, Nick?

That's comedy gold.

Public perception is a powerful social force. Whether right or wrong, people link him with the Penn State crimes. He's damaged goods. It might not be fair (if he is innocent), but such is life.

We can do much better and avoid a PR nightmare.

The love you have for this man is getting pretty weird. He’s not the next coach and nobody but you wants him.

I like Schiano a lot. I still live in America where you are innocent until proven guilty. And don't put 100% faith in one side of any story.

Especially one recalled under duress from 20+ years before. When it was a passsing comment too.

Lot of questions, doubt and narratives the past five seasons, for us to start over with guy who’s not a sure thing that brings a fresh batch. He’s not who we need.

1. Maybe he can’t coach in the NFL maybe he just had a bad team it was only 2 seasons how many great coaches fail in there first 2 seasons I’m sure it’s a lot
2.68-67 at Rutgers is a huge accomplishment that’s what most people that don’t know about Rutgers will never understand.
3. That’s messed up to call someone a pedophile enabler when you have no idea what happened

And we don’t have any idea what DIDN’T happen. Why import questions? He so good that he’s worth the Tennessean camped out on campus?

Guy is a proven winner. Took a program that was a 2 win per season team for decades. And took it to the top 10. Won so impressively and so big Rutgers got invited to the Big 10. He got Rutgers to move to the big 10!!!!! That's so impressive!

Got Rutgers ranked into the top 10!

Highlights:
Great recruiting
Teams played tough always
Hard relentless working attitude
Has a drive to be great
In Bill Belichick's inner circle with Saban & Meyer
NFL experience as a Head Coach(successful or not this is impressive to recruits)

What he did at Rutgers was amazing.

Imagine what this guy could do turning around Tennessee into a tough winning team. With the resources & money that Tennessee has.

Has turned down advances from USC & Oregon.
But wants the Tennessee job.

A lot of smoke around him and Tennessee. He is a Sexton client.

You have to drink gas on ice to start this thread.

I want to watch my team win football games. It's the reason I watch just like everyone else. However, there are things that I can never look past to make that happen. With this guy as the head coach, I don't even think I could enjoy winning games he coached.

I don't know why people think Currie would hire Schiano when there's bad blood with Peyton. You don't risk the relationship of a TN legend to hire a failed defensive coordinator from Ohio State.

"As it turned out, opposing coaches like Coughlin were hardly the only ones upset by Schiano's approach. When Schiano ordered the Bucs to pull a similar maneuver against Eli's big brother, Peyton, in the final stages of a 31-23 defeat to the Denver Broncos last December, the future Hall of Fame quarterback was not pleased.

"Peyton cussed him out," recalls former Bucs defensive end Michael Bennett, who signed with the Seattle Seahawks as a free agent last March. "And I ain't never heard Peyton cuss."

According to Bennett, Bucs players weren't thrilled with Schiano's legal-but-dubious decree, either.

"People just really hate it when you have to dive at people's legs," Bennett says. "At the end of the day, we've got to keep going and move onto the next game and try to make a living. Some of these guys (on other teams) are our friends."
