Official Global Warming thread (merged)

Depends on who we elect. Most of the GOP wants to keep living in the past

Really? Jada Pinkett Smith might disagree with you...as well as the hordes of educators desperate to segregate children based on race to improve scholastic scores...

So if the Paris deal is implemented we have no more global warming? Seriously?

They think if WESTERN nations pay more attention it will alleviate the problem while ignoring 2nd and 3rd turd world countries who do just as much if not more damage...

It'll take a few decades to change the trend. 2016 may be hotter still. Cooler times ahead though! In a few years we'll be hearing "no global warming since 2016!"

Wouldn't we have to be at net zero carbon add to say no warming since 2016? Paris doesn't come close to that.

I did say “It'll take a few decades to change the trend.” There will be a few cooler years ahead, just as there were after 1998. My comment was just a jab at the “no global warming since 1998” crowd.

And that comment was only meant in the context of this thread topic

I would like to ask you a serious question. Do you honestly believe we have the ability to move away from oil in say the next 40/50 years?
Yes, I think that’s plenty of time. We could do better but I think 40-50 years is a fair guesstimate.

Would you honestly believe we’d put a man on the moon by the end of that decade when JFK addressed congress in 1961? (assuming you don’t also think the moon landing was a hoax…)

Yes we landed on the moon :). But I think your analogy is asinine. Two completely different things. The United States and the worlds economy runs on oil. I dont know if that can be done away with in 50 years. Think about it. Gasoline, grease, plastic, cosmetics, cleaning products, synthetic rubber, lubricats, vaseline, synthetic fabrics, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, medicine, foods all of these things have major ties to oil.

I think if a world wide initive was launched, then I could see the world transitioning away from oil in 75-100 years. Anything quicker than that is just wishful thinking IMO.

Bart, when is this global warming thing kicking in? I've got almost 6" of snow.

So tired of this response. So uneducated. Please read some articles. Global Warming does not mean we wont have winter or snow. Global Warming can actually lead to more moisture which leads to more snow.

Hey buddy, I'm ready for 60 degree winters. I'm a proponent of global warming.

But you're not tired of Bart posting droughts, or wildfires, or weather cycles, or "warmest on record" BS?

Indeed. Likewise I'm tired of every weather event being linked to Global Warming. More snow? Global Warming. Less snow? Global Warming. Drought? Global Warming. Flood? Global Warming.

"Global warming" is a liberal fear tactic to further the agenda of total government control of every aspect of your life.

Everything is cyclical. Warm, cold, warm, cold... lather, rinse, repeat.
