Yes Im from the Netherlands and actually live over on the east side currently. I moved around a bit but spent a good chunk of my childhood in the Knoxville area and then did my undergrad at UTK. I could have gone ivy but stayed close to home because (1) football (2) money and (3) some dumb chick. My father is also in the physics department at UT and my in-laws are politicians in Tennessee. Peyton came to my 4th grade class to teach us about helmet safety. Ive already got my old lady to agree to cheesily name our first-born Peyton, whether it be a boy or a girl. Between my Tennessee and Netherlands gear I own a lot of orange!
So yeah, plenty of ties to Tennessee. I promise Im not a random plant hired by Obama to convince the ignorant masses of the dangers of global warming, as some would have you believe
And although I did grad school at UW and live in the area, Im really just a passive Husky fan. I secretly root for the fightin Leaches when were not playing the Apple Cup (always liked Leach). Congrats on your bowl win tums
Lol. Reviewed by his coauthors, maybe. Couldve used another spell check
Youve obviously never done a poster for a huge scientific conference like AGU. There really is no peer review process. Pretty much anyone who pays the fee can present. That's not to say nobody presents peer reviewed work, but it is not necessary at all.
Let us know when Watts publishes his life's work in a scientific journal.

In others words, as usual you have nothing but rhetoric.
Climate Change: Vital Signs of the Planet: Consensus
For the right to go against science concerning global warming is only one of the reasons the GOP is known as the stupid party.
The part I find amusing Gramps is that out of the millions of years the earth has existed (one thing scientists do agree on) weather recorded history is barely older than the two of us. Started in 1849 in the U.S.
None of the conversation acknowledges that the earth has wobbled on its axis and the sun has swapped its poles. I find that really strange, especially coupled with false data being fed into the computer models.
How am I supposed to believe people who have been caught fixing the data.

I have my doubts about this and that, but you are undoubtedly a conspiracy quack.Yep. And everything the government says is 100% correct acording to him. Any scientist who has a different opinion than Bart is obviously a quack or a conspiracy nut who is unqualified.
The oft-cited 97% figure is usually attributed to Cook et al. 2013, but previous studies had found similar results. The exact number depends on the methodology and point in time. There have been some more studies since, too:Another "97%" scientific consensuslol:. Why is it always 97%? I mean why never 96 or 99%? Is 97% some kind of arbitrary number?
Lol. Just like if 97% of the worlds scientists said evolution is a fact? Oh wait, bad example for you. Just like if all of the worlds scientists stood up and said the Earth is not flat? Is that a political statement, too?Gramps that's based on a flawed study that has zero merit. And, NASA is a tragic government organization. If 97% of the scientists in the world actually stood up at the same time and said human caused global warming is a fact then you'd better be highly skeptical because that would be a political statement and not a scientific statement.

Bold accusations. Please dont tell me yall are thinking of climategateHow am I supposed to believe people who have been caught fixing the data.
As you can see in the link above, theres only a ~10 C difference between snowball earth and jurassic park. Averaged over the entire planet, a couple of degrees means a lot. In the past these changes occurred over thousands and millions of years; were on course to do it this century. Life cannot evolve and adapt that fast. Were talking major irreversible ecological damage (made even worse by often-overlooked ocean acidification). And aside from the trillions of dollars of coastal infrastructure yall are eager to abandon for a balmy Christmas, we're facing drought, famine, war, migration, and all sorts of unpleasant (expensive!) consequences if we dont GAF.and let's just assume that this is accurate and the earth is warming, SO WHAT? The we have real problems going on this planet not "theoretical" problems caused by a 2 degree temperature change. Seriously WGAF?
Ha, well thanks. I think VN preferred my Dutch hockey girls avatar but Ive left it as is since the world cup. The last two cups have been heartbreakers and our Euro 2016 qualifying campaign was just pathetic. Hopefully with Van Basten back on the staff well get it turned aroundGood post.
I admire your avatar. I am a huge Netherlands soccer fan. I wanted to be the next Marco Van Basten until I discovered weed. Only 2 soccer jerseys in my closet, US and Dutch.
Haven't gotten that far yetNice.
East side of Washington? I'm from Spokane. Don't ruin it! Haha
Is the fossil fuel industry, like the tobacco industry, guilty of racketeering?
Nothing groundbreaking here, but it's interesting to see how long ago Exxon knew what we know now.

About that consensus on global warming: 9136 agree, one disagrees
The 97 Percent Scientific Consensus on Climate Change Is WrongIts Even Higher
The climate change consensus extends beyond climate scientists
The point is, theres an overwhelming consensus throughout the active scientific community. And no, your random political scientist working at some ultra-conservative thinktank publishing op-eds in the WSJ is not a part of that scientific community.
Lol. Just like if 97% of the worlds scientists said evolution is a fact? Oh wait, bad example for you. Just like if all of the worlds scientists stood up and said the Earth is not flat? Is that a political statement, too?
You only think this scientific fact is political because you don't like the political implications.
So Bart, how many climate scientists and general scientists have been polled about climate change? Have evry one of them been polled? If so, where is that study? If not, then how could an accurate assesment be made about the consensus be made? So basically 97% of the ones POLLED supposedly agree that humans play a significant role in climate change? Wow, thats just rock solid science right there.
