Not at all. Neither would be my first choice as the new coach. I am excited about White because he is young, talented, a leader, and has a great track record independent of his lineage. I will have faith in his selection as the new head coach whether it be an established power 5 HC or an up and comer that he believes is a fit for the challenge. My only concern would be if someone high up in the administration or a wealthy alum tries to push him towards a specific individual. Doubt he would have accepted the job unless he has been guaranteed he is in charge and the decision is soley his. But, we all know, everyone has a boss........Are most people only happy with his hire because of the apparent connection with Kiffin and Freeze?
Thanks, you can keep Mr Mullen and let us have who we want.Kiffin was 5-5 this year, would have been 5-6 if the aTm game weren’t canceled. He was two games better than Pruitt. Was it the flashy nature in which he always seems to lose between 4-6 games that has everyone enamored with him? Has anyone ever been more forgiven for being average-to-below-average than Kiffin? You always think he’s having a solid season, then you look up and he’s got 5 losses. And it’s this way everywhere he goes, save a couple big seasons at FAU (also had a 4-7 season at FAU).
He won 5 games this year with a couple of the best QB’s in the league on his roster and an All-everything WR.
5-7 to 7-5 is your ceiling with him, with the occasional outlier 9-3. He’ll have fun and flashy offenses, he’ll be a great soundbite, and a charismatic dude, but the program will not become a consistent winner that you’re all hoping for, and you’ll be right back to where you are now after 5 seasons of 7-5, 6-6.
The search firm doesn't actually conduct the search, a search firm is brought in when you have your candidate or candidates lined up and you want to vet them. Some rumors are out there that Danny White was actually the only person interviewed for the UT AD position. UT used a search firm and rumored none of the other potential candidates and especially those with solid UT connections were never contacted nor interviewed. Nothing has also been said as to who is going to pay the $2.5 million dollar "buy out" of White. White obviously has excellent credentials, but it is totally unfair that absolutely none of the other potential AD candidates were even contacted nor interviewed.
You can't say it was unfair if you don't even know if it's true. SmhSome rumors are out there that Danny White was actually the only person interviewed for the UT AD position.
