Another thing to factor in is that Stokes had to play with a horrible offensive coach who coached some games where we had a total of 30 something points. Not to mention he had 2 stud guards playing with him who could score.

But Williams averaged .7 more points so I guess that means he is better.

I am surprised stokes wasn't a higher % shooter with him attempting so few mid range and beyond shots. Lots of put backs for him

Grant Williams is significantly more athletic, has a nicer array of post moves, better shot blocker, has more range. Stokes, the better rebounder.

I know Ziti wants to say Stokes played around more talent, and there may be some truth to that and how it affected Stokes's numbers. However, throw the numbers out, and just watch the two play the game, and you can still come to the conclusions above.

Both are good players who played bigger than they are. I'm just glad Williams isn't 6-9 or taller. We wouldnt keep him beyond this year.

Seeing PJ Washington could potentially be the best thing for GW...PJ hav GW all he wanted on both ends, as a true freshman. The 2 have very similar measurables across the board, and pretty similar game, PJ is a guy that will likely get drafted...if GW wants to take that next step that’s a guy to look at imo. To get there GW has to continue to improve his body, get leaner, improve his quickness and explosiveness...as is he’s a dominant college player, but unlikely to get much of a look from the NBA as is.

No chance Grant would go out this year, right? He's really only 6' 5 !/2"..and doesn't shoot great from three. And..he's not tall.

I don't see a case where Williams leaves early, especially not after his SO year. Now Bruin mentioned that he may graduate in three years (no proof of that, just speculation based on his academic background). In that case, I could see him maybe leave early and go to Europe to maximize his earning potential, but still doubtful.

What I really hope doesn't happen, and I doubt it does, but if he graduates early, what if he transfers as a grad transfer to a Duke or UNC with hopes of competing for a championship? Like I said, I doubt it happens, but I hate to even think about the possibility.

I have said this a number of times.

I hate that grad transferring is legal. Grad degrees take two years anyway and players should have to sit out that first year to do it.

Also if I was Tennessee I would delay his class schedule so graduating isn't possible in 3 years. 12 hours a semester baby

Each year the talk about doing away with graduate transfer immediate eligibility has increased, hopefully that is the case.

Or even better hopefully when that time comes he feels his chances of doing that are just as good here as there!

I have the common sense solution

Let grad transfers have an extra(if needed) redshirt year and make them sit out. If it's truly about getting a graduate degree 2 years is the timeframe at minimum anyway

It just makes too much sense

I would strongly be against this...Grant has been a model citizen, a hell of a player and represented this university better than you could’ve asked for. If he wants to graduate in 3 years and explore his options to do so then you allow him to do that.

Oh I agree, that’s not a bad idea at all.

It is probably unlikely, especially if Tennessee continues to trend in the right direction.

I just feel like Grant is a perfect example of a guy who may realize (even he wouldn't publicly admit it) that he doesn't have much of an NBA future. With that in mind, he may trade another year of being "the man" at Tennessee for a true shot at playing for a championship as a lesser part of a better team.

As BTO said, hopefully he sees that opportunity at Tennessee.
