I would strongly be against this...Grant has been a model citizen, a hell of a player and represented this university better than you could’ve asked for. If he wants to graduate in 3 years and explore his options to do so then you allow him to do that.

It's bad but sometimes you have to protect your investments.

I originally said if I was a midmajor I would do it. They are the ones hit the hardest

It is probably unlikely, especially if Tennessee continues to trend in the right direction.

I just feel like Grant is a perfect example of a guy who may realize (even he wouldn't publicly admit it) that he doesn't have much of an NBA future. With that in mind, he may trade another year of being "the man" at Tennessee for a true shot at playing for a championship as a lesser part of a better team.

As BTO said, hopefully he sees that opportunity at Tennessee.

Yea he likely wouldn't even think about being a grad transfer

One reason I think he might declare after next season is he has been quoted a few times about wanting to play in the NBA. I know all players want that but a quote I read last year made me think he say himself as a real threat to do that. Wish I knew where I read it

How do Grant do what he do? No for real though, his post moves are insane. Looks like a short version of Hakeem Olajuwon with his post moves. It's crazy because usually everyone that he goes up against in the post has a height advantage against him. It looks like he would get blocked easily, but he rarely does. Is it the spacing that he gets? Or just the way he uses his body to get separation?

Either way, what a gem CRB found. I remember so many people questioning CRB when he was recruiting him. Hell I believe I even questioned him. What an eye for talent!

If you recall the coaches where very vocal about how good he was going to be. Most of us didn't believe it. I was excited about his productivity and age but never dreamed he'd be this good

Yes I agree...the bad exposure we would get nationally would not be worth it in our case, plus I just don’t think it would be right to do to a guy who has done everything the right way.

He’s the 40 year old at the Y nobody can stop...he just is saavy way beyond his years, when you crowd him he spins off you, when you jump to block his shot he goes up and under, when he stay down he elevates quickly...he is gifted with being a very quick leaper, and obviously he’s put in a ton of work on his game, but his effort is just almost always higher than his opposition.

Imo there wouldn't be any exposure. You just don't push guys from the start to take big course loads. Very few guys would complain and with summer sessions they would easily be on pace to grad in 4 years. The redshirts are where it gets hairy

Transforming his body has made him much quicker. That spin move is deadly

My guess is Williams has been taking a pretty heavy course load, if heading into Year 3 is all of a sudden changes and they aren’t allowing him to add classes he’s going to realize real quick what is going on...he’s not an idiot.

Yea my suggestion is a four year plan from the beginning. I wasn't really being specific about him literally anyway

His athleticism and footwork are GROSSLY underrated, and what allows him to beat guys 2-3" taller than him. He positions his body well, and is strong enough to absorb contact. He has the technical skill of a college SR, and he just turned 19. Most kids his age are just athletes with little skill. He is a really good athlete, but he has skill in spades, and it allows him to own the paint. Only way to really stop him is to double him, and I don't know why Vandy went away from that last night.

6/8 from 3 in the second for the Vols was probably one of the biggest reasons.

I never noticed them even try it in the 2nd half though. It worked so well in the 1st half, and then I never saw Vandy attempt it in the 2nd.

One time in the second half that I recall. He threw it cross court to Daniel in the corner

Hmm, I didn’t remember them really doubling in the first half, I thought it was early 2nd half...I must be losing it.

They doubled 3-4 times first half. One time they tied grant up but the official called a foul.
From my not so good seat I thought it was a bad call
