I want this guy more than any other candidate. He has a proven track record and has proven to be an elite recruiter. He's still got several years in him and he would be a homerun hire. The best part is, he WANTS the job. You would have to be crazy to least not give him an interview.

i think our best chance is if he goes public and withdraws his name then Hart would pursue him. Harts ego gonna ruin us

Doesn't appear he's a candidate, not a surprise, it's why I left him off my realistic candidate list. There's more going on behind the scenes with him than what we are all seeing I think.

I guess I'd worry a bit about these:

1. Sitting in a recruit's kitchen, trying to explain why he allowed a player to terrorize the rest of the team, and how it wouldn't happen again.

2. Being successful here and then dumping us for a big-time BB school. Shocking as it might be, it's possible that some might view UT as a stepping stone to Greater Things.

My guess is that perceived "character issues" will keep Howland off Hart's list. There really does seem to be a mandate from on high to bring in coaches who will put at least as much emphasis on off-court/off-field quality as on.

I hope like hell UT doesn't hire him... with all the openings in college BB
the last few years,he still doesnt have a job,there might be a reason...

Might want to backtrack on that statement. You are clueless on what went on with UCLA. Quit relying on some bulls------ SI article. Winning the PAC 12 and beating Arizona three times his last year is atrocious.
UCLA hired an Iowa reject and UCLA is not a Top 10 program any longer. Hell they can't even fill half of their arena.

Howland got 2.3 mil last year and a long vacation.
He continues to receive 300k for the next 4 years doing nothing if he chooses. He is looking for the right opening.
What openings are you talking about? South Fla or BC?
Three straight Final 4's and great ties to the Atlanta AAU
and recruiting. Yea I don't want him.

So far we keep hearing that Howland is interested in every opening. I don't know if that's true. But it's telling that he can't get jobs or seemingly even interviews any where.

That SI article and the alleged recruiting short cuts apparently carry a lot of weight.

yea,and got fired at UCLA... a blue blood school...top 5 job in the country...He had early success,but then it started unravelling...but if you can't keep it together at UCLA,why would he be able to here...

from 2008-2013,he made the 2nd round twice,losing both times...he didnt make it 2 times,and lost in the 1st round the other... and this is at UCLA,fairly easy to recruit to... if this was at another school,maybe they would be happy... he won a conference title his LAST year and got fired... you think the brass at UCLA know something or got tired of his act...11 players left the program from 2008-2012... that is an indictment on him...

and he has been rumored for just about every opening... there arent many coaches that are out of work 2 years that come back...

Teams quit on him the last four years. Players just quit the team. That rarely happens. Sports illustrated had an article about how terrible he is. Don't want.
