right right right. that's why they are undefeated against the SEC with virtually every game being a blowout since he got there.
how many has he played? I recall two arky blowouts and one Jason Campbell disaster. Each of those blowouts were riddled with turnovers.

You think leinhart could take the pounding SEC QB's take week in week out? He can't take the abuse in the NFL

peyton and eli could take it, i'm sure leinhart wouldn't have much of a problem. Take a look at Leinhart's stats at USC in close games. There is an argument to be made he was the most clutch qb in ncaa history. If SC had leinhart the last two years there is zero way they lose a game.

good teams create turnovers. edit: there was also a close win against auburn carroll's first year.

no debate. turnovers make for some awfully lopsided looking scores, even with relatively closely matched teams.

obtw, bad teams create turnovers too. especially against the QBs that Arky and Auburn had on the field. Campbell grew up a lot after that, but at the time was just horrendous.

I think Clawson could be a lot like Bruce Pearl a lot of success at a different level but apparently a lot of enthusiasm and skills. It could potentially be a really great hire.

Leinhart is getting pounded in the NFL, just like he would in the SEC. HOw did the SEC fair in bowl games this year? I do believe we only lost 2 games if I"m not mistaken, and each of the other QB's said in interviews that they've never been hit so hard like the SEC Def put it to them

Did Ark even hit the Mizzou QB? I have a hard time believing those quotes considering UF and Ark each had 3 sacks between them.

talk about living in the past. Come on, you're better than that to count 1940 & 45.

you guys can't have it both ways. you can't bitch how year in and year out for all eternity the SEC is the greatest and then bitch when i bring up "old" records.

I don't think anyone on here is arguing that the SEC has always been the best conference. If they have, they're wrong. For a long time it was AL and everyone else or AL, UT and everyone else. Some of the other schools had short blips of strength, but generally stunk until the last 15-20 years or so. Since then, the SEC has been hands down the best conference. Tout USC all you want, but we all know that their in conference schedule is their breather each year. It's exactly the reason they have letdowns against sorry Pac 10 teams.

their conference schedule is easier, but if you combine it with their nonconference schedule which is consistantly among the hardest in the country SC has had a harder schedule than most sec teams. And carroll himself has multiple times said that his hardest games come from pac-10 opponents. And if pete can get his teams up for the illinios of the world he can definetly get them up for UCLA and Cal.

Chow probably wouldn't have been a good fit but his track record in college is pretty good. He coached Rivers at NC St, McMahon, Detmer and Steve Young at BYU and does anyone remember how good Carson Palmer was before Chow got a hold of him?

I love the Titans but they have terrible receivers and Young couldn't win the Dr. Pepper halftime toss at the SECCG.

Chow did a good job in college before he went to USC. He did a good job at USC, but he was a bad fit for Vince Young's skills. It was easy to make him the scapegoat this season after Young's regression.

I wonder about his ability to recruit. His resume would attract players by itself, but I wonder if he has the desire to recruit. Also, he is an older coach and UT needed to bring in somebody younger than him.

Considering the timing, I wonder if Fisher waited on firing Chow, so that he would not be a possible candidate for the UT OC job.

JZVOL, the Dr. Pepper remark had me

wonder if carroll might say something positive about the Pac 10 to help prop it up? hmmmm.

I'm not bashing SC's schedule, but 2 OOC games of merit doesn't make up for a 9 game tour de force through a pathetic Pac 10. The conference has gotten better over the past couple of seasons and, amazingly enough, SC has suffered for it. Heck, they've even gotten a couple of guys hurt playing those headknockers out there.

pete's average margin of victory among his nonconference games is twice what it is against the pac-10. perhaps an argument could be made that the pac-10 teams are more familiar with SC schemes or that they aren't as in awe of SC, but to argue it's because SC doesnt' get up for the games is ridiculous.

to imply that SC was 'up' or prepared for the Stanford game this season or the fateful UCLA game last season is more ridiculous than anything I could ever say.
