Offenisve Coord. Should we have waited?

bring Cutcliffe back was a mistake in my opinion. Letting Sanders be the goat was another mistake. Screwing up 2005 by splitting the OC duties was a horrendous mistake. It set Ainge back a long way and it destroyed that team. Not realizing Hardesty hadn't played was a mistake that has no excuse. That's just a few of them.

Chow probably wouldn't have been a good fit but his track record in college is pretty good. He coached Rivers at NC St, McMahon, Detmer and Steve Young at BYU and does anyone remember how good Carson Palmer was before Chow got a hold of him?

I love the Titans but they have terrible receivers and Young couldn't win the Dr. Pepper halftime toss at the SECCG.

We made the right choice in Clawson. Chow would have been a decent stopgap but we needed to get younger and get fresh ideas. That is what we did. I knew this thread was coming the second I saw that Chow was fired.

Don't think Newby should be questioning hires, but welcome to the board, and Good Luck.
newbies shouldn't question? silliest thing I've seen here in a while. The implication that someone who hasn't been on this board doesn't know enough to use CPFs hiring past and the last decade's on field results to question CPFs choices is just pathetic.

I'm gonna give you a hint, # of posts means absolutely nothing and we defenitely aren't getting smarter by being here.

No. Chow had to know the ax was about to fall unless the Oilers made a run in the playoffs, which wasn't going to happen. If he had wanted to be in the mix at UT, all he had to do was say something. If Chow wasn't interested in being here, I wouldn't want to hire him as his parachute.

One word - recruiting. We would have been that much harder if CPF would have waited any longer.

Give Dr. Claw a chance, don't be afraid of what you don't know.

Norm Chow is AWFUL.

Lets look at his success at USC. He had the best talent, and at the time, the Pac 10 was a wasteland for defenses.

Put 2 and 2 together and you can see why he won so much there.

The guy does not have what it takes to compete against SEC defenses. Hell, he doesn't have what it takes to compete against NFC SOUTH defenses.

YIKES!!

yeah just look at how those SEC teams and oklahoma contained his offenses. . .oh wait. and when norm was there the talent wasn't nearly as good as it was later.

cutcliffe could have coached those offenses to explosiveness.

chow's problem at the titans was two fold

a) vince young ain't that bright and you need to be smart to be good as a young qb

b) vince young ain't an nfl qb

and VY has middlin' receivers, at most
and VY has no real running game
and VY is in the middle of an offense that just has no means of scaring a defense.

All of that said, I'd take VY over Aaron Rodgers all day long.

Aaron rodgers qb rating 106
Vince Young qb rating 71

Actually, the Titans ranked 5th in the NFL in rushing. With a passing game no one fears, that is quite an accomplishment.

Not sure I would take VY over very many people.

in total rushing they might have been fifth, but were somewhere near the bottom in ypc I would imagine. Large Marge had about 9 million carries to get his 1100 yds.
