Now it's Tim Banks for DC?

I didn’t really want to say this but since you brought it up. Does anyone else get the feeling that AD White wants this to be about him being able to find the next great thing, that his reputation has been built upon thus far? I just feel like he has his hands all over Heupel’s staff.
I may be wrong and probably am, and hope I am but...
GBO!!

We've never seen a proper functioning AD working together as a team to support each other in pursuit of a common goal, so of course this looks wierd to us. We have 20 years of BVS from the trauma of a dysfunctional football home, so naturally anything done right is going to confuse the crap out of us.

I'm with you on the feeling, I just keep reminding myself that my discomfort may be due to getting healthy for the first time.

I don’t feel that way at all. What I see is our program has been destroyed to the point where only the strongest candidates who believe they can be successful here are willing to accept the challenge. We really don’t want those who are afraid of the job needed.

Is it smart to p!$$ off the media that is covering you? It didn’t work out very well for Trump. The media has very little integrity these days and can make it very tough on someone, if it fits in their agenda.
To keep saying they are falsely floating name after name out there, to make the media look bad is crazy. Because honestly all it’s doing is making the administration, program and head coach look bad. Do you think anyone really cares if Jimmy Hyams is wrong in reporting that coach X is being considered, when in reality he’s not? No, but it makes the AD, program and head coach look bad, because it ultimately comes across as another coach turning us down.
I just feel like this AD came in here with a chip on his shoulder and he’s playing with fire and he is certainly underestimating the Tennessee fan base.
GBO!!
It's not the best of signs that his very first press conference here featured him admonishing the fans. Not the brightest tack one could take. But then what would one expect from the guy who was supposedly the best AD hire we had made in eons who then made the amazingly unbelievable coup of hiring his coach from his previous job?

For those wondering here is what was posted in the RF. Again, IF true then it’s not good.

A poster on VQ that appears to be connected somehow said this and Volzown confirmed its the truth...

It’s DW’s search.

Heupel wants Conklin. DW wanted Washington, Rodgers or now Tim Banks.

It’s not contentious between Heupel and DW, but DW is definitely running this

There is no evidence of any of this other than hearsay

Technicality correct. However Hubbs and AP said that White forced Randy Shannon on Heupel at UCF. While I don’t know if that’s 100% fact but it could be true.

If you really think about it, there has to be a reason why we cannot land a DC. Maybe DW is interfering.

I think it has more to do with the fact that we’re facing sanctions and the type of offense that’s going to be ran more than Danny white vetoing anything

And throw in that it's the 2nd week in February. Most coach hires happen at the end off the season. Pruitt was fired on Jan 18th. Heupel was hired on Jan 27th, today is Feb 12th.. This has to be the the worst time to be putting together a staff... It's gonna take time to get this staff complete. They have way too many dynamics to deal with right now. It is what it is unfortunately..

I am new to this board but had privilege of being at Oklahoma when Heupel were playing. My career happen to lead me to Florida about 45 minutes from UCF campus. I have a pretty good source in terms of what happened at UCF, OU, and in Josh accepting offer from UT. I can say 100% Randy Shannon was part of the deal if Josh wanted to accept job at UCF. I was told with him being a new head coach and offensive specialist he was agreeable to the terms given Shannon's experience and contacts in South Florida. I also know when he accepted the UT offer from Danny White he was open to consider DC recommendations from DW but with the understanding he had final say. I do not know any info in terms of the DC hire at UT, but I know Josh was having conversations around replacing Randy Shannon and a few names he was interested in. That list included Chad Hall at Troy, Kevin Kane at SMU, and Ben Albert at Duke, and Corey Bell at UCF. I don't know that any of those translate over to UT as it's obviously on totally different level.

Co-DC at Penn State. Basilio is reporting that this guy is actually higher on the pecking order than Conklin.
Anytime I see the "co" designation, I see a guy who is a super recruiter who's been "promoted" to keep him happy moreso than his real coaching ability. I admit to knowing absolutely nothing about this guy, but we really need someone who can really dial up and call a defense not a recruiting figurehead. I'd still lean toward Kacy, Gillespie or Conklin vs a guy that's a "co" DC. Just smacks of what we got with Tee Martin. No thanks.

Your logic is that a meddling AD interferes with a coaching search. Then, said AD takes a new position at another university but the coach he supposedly meddles with follows him to that same university so he can continue working for him? That is some of the worst logic I have ever heard.

Just remember this guy Danny White is making twice as much as Fulmer was making. He'd better get it right or that 2 million a year wont be for long. You can go from hero to zero in a hurry with bad decisions.
He's making twice as much bc CPF has no history at doing this and he does.

We are facing sanctions, we have a thin roster on that side of the ball, we have a super hyper warp speed offensive system, and we are way late in searching for a DC thanks to how long it took to fire Pruitt just to get a HC.

On the other hand if this was the sexy hire Lane Kiffin searching for a DC here for this long of a time....running a similar offense...posters wouldn’t be freaking out. Since it is Heupel the meltdown continues.

Maybe said coach trusts the said AD and doesn't mind his leadership.

I don't believe all that mess, but it's plausible. I've worked for micromanaging owners before that I liked working for. They did things that I didn't like but they paid me well and I dealt with it. Them grown-up things suck sometimes. Nothing is perfect.

Agree 100%. White made it pretty clear at presser that admin wouldn’t interfere with head coach hire and was was his decision. He also has stated that coaching staff is 100% JH decision.

None of us know what is going down. Speculation keeps people interesting, but also build frustration within the fan base. This leads to the beginning of distrust among fans and everything begins to fall apart. Recruits and parents begin to wonder if we are still disoraganized we lose recruits which delays the rebuilding process. People like Hubbs are part of the problem because they want the fan base to think they are on the inside. Dr. White will not let those people get "inside". The responsibility for rebuilding the program rests with the AD. That is not interfering, that is leading and doing his job.
The manner in which Dr. White ran the program seems to work better than the way we have managed our program for the last 15-20 years. His way worked at UFC and will likely work here if we give the opportunity. I would rather let him/them do it their way and let us know when the job is done.
