Next gen console power (PS5 and Xbox Series X)

My understanding is the less expensive Xbox would be all digital and not have 4k resolution capacity and would be less and $399.00 is a good guess. I'm thinking that physical games are going to be gone sooner than later and I don't have a problem with that as I never think about selling old games back and recouping money until they are worth next to nothing.

They've already unveiled the Series S which is an all digital Xbox that is going to be 1440 graphic settings...its 299. The one rumoured is the Series V....going to be another all digital but look just like the Series X....and supposedly going to have almost the same specs just going to be a little smaller. It's suppose to be a the middle tier between the X and the S. The X is 499....the S is 299...so the V is probably 399.

Given how affordable All Access makes the already announced consoles, I'm not sure how much sense this would make. Not saying it won't happen, but I feel like it could muddy the water.

Sony has had to lower their production units by 4M (by the March 21 date). Pretty disappointed in the way they are handling this as I know a few people who have gotten the invite to preorder the console and they play maybe 4 or 5 games total in the last 3 or 4 years. I spend way too much and buy just about every game that comes out, have 3 different PS4s, and not invite.

To be fair, MS admitted to having yield issues as well during their "hot chips" video event, though they have not divulged specifically how it's affecting their projected number of units manufactured by March of 2021. 11 Million units from Sony is about how many PS4 consoles they manufactured in the same amount of time during it's launch. They may need to adjust how many territories they launch in. I think when PS4 launched, it was in North America first and other territories later. They'll get it figured out and in the grand scheme of things, this is a non-issue that nobody will remember a year from now.

Regarding pre-orders, you can still pre-order PS5 at your preferred retailer once it goes live. You're not being forced to pre-order directly from Sony. The invite from Sony doesn't affect that whatsoever. I didn't get an invite either but I don't care. I'm planning to get mine at my local GameStop anyway and trade in my PS4 Pro towards it. I don't know why everyone is in such a tizzy over this. I can't wait for tomorrow's PS5 event to find out more!

Here's some actual good news regarding launch PS5's...

Sony could get a free "killer app" if they could get Bloodborne running at 60 FPS in backwards compatibility mode.

I'm convinced that Bloodborne will be a major focal point of PS5, whether it's as the poster child for that mode or as a remastered version. Many, many people view it as the game of the generation and the best PS4 game.

Bloodborne was great! I'm really looking forward to the Demon's Souls remake too. Also, there's a rumor that PS5 is getting a new Silent Hill! I don't know if it's a sequel or a reboot but that would be killer! I was a huge Silent Hill fan back in the day.

Yes, Demon's Souls remake should be great. I beat the original for the first time last year and just platinumed Bloodborne, so they are fresh in my memory.

I'd love to see a reboot of Silent Hill. I think it has been long enough and the original is archaic enough that starting over would work.

I know that scooter, you missed the point entirely

I got your point. You couldn't understand why you didn't get an invite vs someone who barely uses their PS4. You're right, it makes no logical sense. I didn't get an email either. All I'm saying is, were you really planning to pre-order directly through Sony anyway? I literally know no one who buys directly from the manufacturer, for ANY console. Not saying some don't, as that's obviously the case. I've just never come across anybody who has. It would be one thing if it was the only way you could pre-order or if Sony was offering some incredible incentive to purchase directly from them but that's not the case. You'll still be able to day one pre-order at Best Buy, Target, Amazon, Gamestop, etc like any other launch console.

Excited for tomorrow. Feel like Sony surely has a surprise waiting. Hoping for some more news on backwards compatibility and a super "boost mode" for PS4 games.
Hope so

Gonna be a great gen for gaming and I cant wait to have this and the XSX next to each other on my desk

Well damn! Harry Potter game looks awesome. Demon's Souls remake looks awesome. And $399. I'll be picking one up at launch for sure.

PS5 all digital is how you do an all-digital system. Another point for Sony.

I've been all digital for years on PC. There are some serious drawbacks, but the convenience is unbeatable for me. Plus, I bet Sony will sell a USB Blu-ray drive if you ever need the option to have a disc drive.

The PlayStation plus collection should give folks something to do at launch. They're are several games in there I didn't get around to. Now... is it permanent and do the games rotate?

I haven’t used a disc in my PS4 in over 3 years.....not gonna start now with the 5
I still buy disks 99.9% of the time. That way if it sucks or I don't get to it I can at least get something for it.

Thank God I did that for Madden 20. I was at least able to recoup $45
