So far it appears it will only do 1440, not 4k. HD is smaller. Otherwise, just a cheaper option with the graphic settings turned down a bit.

The SSD is only 512mb. In 2020, thats practically nothing. Anyone who buys this thing will almost immediately have to spend another 100.00 just on memory expansion.

The biggest thing I am seeing from today is being able to get Series S for $25 per month or Series X for $35 a month with Game Pass Ultimate included. In terms of affordability that's a pretty sweet deal. I'm a PlayStation guy this gen and that gives me pause. Even with the small hard drive you can stream game pass games, or install the one your playing them delete it again. You get the PC version and project Xcloud for your Android device too. That's a serious value, for 25 bucks a month.

Storage is going to be a universal issue this gen I’m afraid. I thought PS5’s 800GB was small for a premium device.

I’m one who likes to keep a lot of games on my hard drive. My ps4 has a 2TB ssd and a 2TB external. My Xbox has a 1TB internal and 4TB external.

I thought they should have done 1440p last gen. It’s been the sweet spot on PC for a while now. Obviously that will change with the latest nvidia cards just announced, but still.

It is a great value. I love game pass. I use the Xbox version and the PC version quite a bit. It’s been lacking on PC but keeps getting better.

I don’t get to play as much as I used to, so it’s nice getting all of the Microsoft first party titles free to play or just try. Apart from that there’s a bunch of game pass games I tried and liked that I never would have paid for. Some I hated, but that’s ok too since it didn’t cost any extra. You also have the games with gold games every month which are decent sometimes too.

I’ve tried xcloud on my Android and it just doesn’t do much for me at this point, but some people love it. There seems to be a market I’m for it though... I guess.

Are those monthly costs over two years? I think that could be a big incentive for people who don’t want to shell out $500 for a console plus another couple hundred for a few launch games. $25-$35 a month will likely be attractive to a lot of people.

Game Pass Ultimate is normally, what, $15 a month? That’s $360 for two years, which means the series S would cost a two year interest free price of $240. The Series X only comes down to $480, if my math is correct but that’s not taking into account the value of interest free money.

I have an 8tb external HDD thats not even half full. I'm hoping the process of transferring games to and from the internal SSD and HDD will be fairly painless. This way I can get away with not needing to upgrade at least for a while. I'll just keep the games I'm playing at that moment on the SSD and then transfer them over to the HDD when I'm finished.

Xcloud will hopefully improve. It's still at the tail end of it's beta, I believe. Even without that, game pass is going to be a real selling point this Christmas. I didn't know they were offering a monthly plan to buy a console with everything included like that. If they can keep improving Game pass, Microsoft is going to have a real winner on it's hands.

My understanding is yes, it's over 2 years. You're paying less doing it that way than buying it outright and game pass ultimate for that long.

That’s looking like the best option at this point. It will likely be a pain though. It is what it is I suppose.

I didn’t have any particular issue with xcloud. It works fine on my Android. I’m just not one who plays games on a phone sized screen.

I figure that feature is aimed at the Switch. Games like Dead Cells and Hollow knight are great in the handheld format.

To be honest, this is where all those horseshit annualized franchises belong. It's stupid to keep charging people 60.00 a year for the same game over and over. It's a much better deal for someone to pay an annual subscription where they can play all these games where the only differences are the year on the box. They need to throw Call of Duty into this as well.

That really would make sense. They would get the games in the hands of more people that way too. I know I'd be much more likely to give the latest NBA game or multiplayer FPS a shot if I didn't have to pay $60 for it. I am a little worried the micro transactions are going to get out of control with this buisness model though.

The stage is set. Microsoft had to do something to differentiate Xbox from PS5's exclusives. If Microsoft can market this properly they will get the vast majority of sports gamers onboard, and that's no small thing.
