New Xbox: Xbox Infinity

I think most questions will be officially answered with the reveal.........that said, if it is always online type of deal, I will go PS4 no doubt

We will see but from the latest I read it just checks in when you sign on. You can then play games offline. Since I don't mod my Xbox it's not an issue. Plus they are still going to release 360 titles and you can play those offline with the 360. I will compare the two and see what most of my friends go with. BF4 is the reason I'm upgrading so you a holes better all decide in one system

The whole "I dont mod my box" argument really doesnt have anything to do with the always online issue. Any sort of security they put up will always be defeated by pirates IMO. People have modded boxes and pirated games now and play online via live with absolutely no issues. I dont mod mine anymore, but the real issue to me is having a requirement that isnt necessary at all and could possibly be a pain in certain scenerios. Just my .02 and personal preference for the new gen consoles.

They want more control is all. Control over what you're doing online, how and where you get your games, how you play them, how you're able to upgrade them, etc etc.

The entire web is slowly moving in that direction and companies/government/stakeholders want nothing more than to steer the flow of internet traffic in their favor. "You'll see what we want to show you".

Web 2.0 is coming and it's got A LOT of bull@#^# coming with it.

to me this is just as lame of a reason. maybe i don't know all the detail but while yes it isn't necessary, what is it hurting? why would a requirement that is equal to what you're doing already, leaving your box connected to internet, be any big deal?

I want the option of playing anywhere I have power even if I don't have Internet connection..........long deployments in the military or my stellar Internet service from Charter ****ting the bed for a day at a time sometimes. I just don't like not having the option to play my console when I don't have Internet connectivity.

I really need to sit down and do a side by side comparison with both consoles online someday.

As a ps3 gamer i think its better.i will say xbox live is better then psn.but not by much and psn plus is FAR better the xbl. I like that its free since i already pay for internet and i think thats how it should be.

There really is no need because they have been done countless times before. Really just comes down to personal preference and how much of a fanboy you want to be about it. I like both systems and they both have pros and cons

The pay for the Internet analogy doesn't work. That's the equivalent of saying I bought a TV so all the channels should be free. I'll need to see what all is offered with next gen to see which way I go with online gaming, but as if now XBL is better for me. Party chat makes it so much better

No that analogy isn't correct. The more accurate analogy is this...

Let's say you buy a TV (game console), and you purchase a cable subscription to use with said TV (internet), then the TV manufacturer comes back and says "you must first pay us a yearly membership fee in order to use that cable service through our hardware" even though other TV manufacturers allow you to use it through their sets for free.

Do you really believe or think that servers are ****ing free?? Someone is paying that cost to maintain the service, with Xbox is is the user with a premium service, with PS it is the company with less than premium service.

No, Xbox Live has its own P2P network and all of the responsibility for servers and network traffic falls on MS for online multiplayer with the exception of a few games. Sony only maintains the PSN. Multiplayer for each and every game, with a few exceptions, is the responsibility of the devs not Sony themselves. Hence the dedicated servers where there is no host and virtually no lag issue because of it. P2P means someone in the lobbys is hosting and thus gameplay for the MP portion depends on how well the hosts connection is.

We disagree greatly on the "no lag or network issue" with PSN, but go ahead with your FREE THE ONLINE SERVICE crusade you are always on

No crusade. I'm just calling it like I see it.

As far as lag goes, yeah it happens on both consoles. Though I can honestly say that it has been practically a non issue for me but usually it has more to do with an individual's ISP than it does with the console.

Yeah, my dl speed of 100 down and 35 up must be causing my lag when I play the Show..........................

Look I'm not interested in a pissing contest. If you say it lags, fine it lags. All I'm saying is that lag for me has never been that big of an issue. Does it happen from time to time? Sure but don't act for a minute like XBL is somehow immune to it. I've played 360 at friend's house where lag has occurred as well.

Not that at all, its your continual beating of your chest that people are getting ripped off for paying less than 3 dollars a month for a premium service that is, in your mind, at the exact same level as a subpar online service. Youve been doing it for a month solid and now you "dont want to get into a pissing match".
