Three losing conference seasons out of 4 years. The “great” year he had at Minnesota it took three miracles to beat South Dakota St, Fresno St, Ga Southern and then went thru a weak schedule other than a fluke win over Pedo State. Then with the division on the line he lost by 4 TDs to his rival. That's not common sense. He went in and built teams from the bottom up. You're adding 2+2 and coming up with 5. Look what he did by end of 2-3 yrs Fantastic coach

Row the boat down the Tennessee River!

Yeah they have their own network, but for the longest time before Herman got there, they actually had comparably bad facilities. At this point they’re almost done upgrade but I would say the top six schools in the sec had better facilities than Texas for the longest time. It was such a weird dynamic...Texas has its own network... surely to god you aren’t this naive...
To be fair, Mullen had a losing SEC record at Miss St and it seems to have worked out welllfor Florida. PJ fleck is a big younger too so he has more to learn but a lot more upside. And IMO the big ten is the second best conference behind the SECExcept he has a losing record in a P5 conference. And three losing conference seasons out of 4 with an extremely weak schedule
It's a good possibility that the people who do not want Fleck are the same people who didn't want Doeren or Leach. Best to ignore those people from here on out. There are a lot of good coaches in the country. Evidently Volnation doesn’t want any of em.
Took an 1-11 Western Michigan team to 13-1 in 3 season. Took Minnesota to the Top 10 in his 3rd year there.
If these are the top 3 choices, we might as well roll the dice with Steele. PJ Fleck I would be okay with, but not overly excited about. The other 2, absolutely not.
Maybe I'm more conservative but I'd stay with Steele because of the SEC experience. Gonna take a helluva name to convince me that an up and comer with no SEC experience is going to build this team into a contender in 2-3 years. I'm not even going to mention any names because it's useless but I do hope our new AD's track record for hiring quality coaches continues while he's at UT.
Just imagine how many shots of the Vol Navy would be shown on every telecast and the number of times the announcers would say
“row the boat“. Dear Lord.
