New Name: PJ Fleck Being Vetted

I think you miss the meaning of a homerun hire... Championships isn’t the only requirement to homerun hire.
Someone who has shown they can get the job done should be a requirement, were too far gone to keep hoping to find the right guy, we need a proven homerun hire, not to say that having a Natty is the only requirement either, I'd hate to see Les Miles here but Meyer is in the same league with Dabo and Saban.

Pj fleck is a very good coach.

I agree he's a name I never really thought of during this whole mess. And initially wrote him off cause of the "row the boat" catch phrase stuff cause of Butch. But honestly the more research I do on PJ Fleck. He's a heck of a coach.
- He's a builder of programs
- Hes young and energetic passionate and could be great recruiter.
- Offensive guy, has developed some good WRs.
- he has an "It" factor about him.
- Culture, the players Love him, would run thru a wall for him.

I'll leave you with this I found two quotes of his that are interesting...

- "I like to run into fires, not away from them"
- " I like to take challenging jobs, tough jobs, that my culture can fit at"

We can do alot better than Fleck, that's the bottom line. Does he have any connections to high school coaches and programs in the south??? Has he ever recruited the south. I am not saying he isn't a good coach, but I just don't see him being able to build a consistent winner here. I could be wrong, but I just don't see it. GBO!
Saban nor Meyer had any connections to the SEC. This school recruits itself to a large degree. When was the last time we finished outside the top 20 in recruiting? Included in that stretch was Jones who didn’t even know how to pronounce Vols. The #1 thing we need is a coach that can sell both prospective and CURRENT players on what it means to be here. We need a cultural reset, and will clean house in both the Athletic Dept and football building. X/O brilliance or recruiting a bunch of out of state guys who will transfer at sign of adversity are less important.

His salary is roughly the same as Pruitt’s. His buyout just dropped to $5 million. We can give him a nice raise and maybe he’d come.

It’s also an absolute pipe dream. What makes you remotely think he would come here besides your own feelings for the university? Texas has more resources than we could wish for and he said no.

There are a lot of good coaches in the country. Evidently Volnation doesn’t want any of em.

Took an 1-11 Western Michigan team to 13-1 in 3 season. Took Minnesota to the Top 10 in his 3rd year there.

We have people who don't understand how hard it is to win at certain schools and how much more impressive it is to have good seasons at said schools than it would be at others.

Thank god you're not doing the hiring. At least you didn't pull the redneck tack of criticizing him for using slogans.

Fleck gives me flashbacks to the last head coach we had who was a WR coach and dressed nice.

And Fleck, while he has never been a play-caller, has worked extensively on the offensive side of the ball – specifically as a wide receivers coach, the position he played at Northern Illinois that led to a brief NFL stint with the San Francisco 49ers.

Well he wasn’t a band member...

Who says Texas has more resources? Who knows what resources Tennessee has beyond pure speculation, Texas is gum on the bottom of our shoe, if we wanted to win we'd get the very best option available and that was Urban Meyer, at least take a run at him all he can do is say no, and if I remember correctly he was saying how good the Tennessee job would be during his commentating, dont think I ever heard him mention Texas, that may not mean anything but it could have, too late now.

Pj Fleck isn't coming here.

I tried to imagine Tennessee hiring that egomaniac goofball. I tried. Couldn't do it. And after the last 10 years I can imagine UT doing all kinds of dumb ****.

I wouldn't worry about it.

So we are led to believe White has been given the green light to get who he wants and these 3 bums are on the list?

I hear you, by default I associated PJ Fleck with Butch Jones cause of the catch phrase stuff.

But PJ Fleck is actually a really good coach. He builds programs!! Not rides someone else's coattails.

The more I dig into and research PJ Fleck, in my opinion he has an "IT" Factor about him. He is LOVED by his players, they all speak how he made them better men. And in terms on the field, they play their buttz off for him, and run thru a wall for him.

Not my first choice but if Danny White sees something in him then I trust AD-DW

Stoerner Fumbles stated legit info would be fiven first given to two sources , one at Espn and one at CBS. I do not consider this report legit. The names are probably being floated by coaches agents.

Edit: Chris Low. ESPN
Bruce Feldman. CBS

If they haven’t released a candidates name consider it just unreliable speculation from the source.
Feldman has mentioned only Elliot. Low has not mentioned anyone from what I can tell so far.

He’s got a Top 25 class for 2021 right now coming to Minnesota.... MINNESOTA?? Who in their right mind would go play there??

He may not have connections in the south, but he’s young, aggressive, and energetic. People want to play for that.
