See this is the thing: One game doesn't make a trend.
9 times out of 10, Alabama monkey stomps Utah and Oklahoma rapes Boise State.
Using one game as an example does nothing.
Where was all that Boise talent when they got exposed by Georgia in 05 or 06? (I can't remember the season)
Tennessee has to play 8 games a year against SEC competition, not one game every decade.
...............
If a team can stomp a mudhole in a given team on a nationally televised game, they can do it with consistency. It's not like they ate a case of green kryptonite just for that game , in Boise or Utah's case. It's the mentality and conditioning of the team that comes into play. Sure there are players that are far and above others as physical specimens. But most of the ratings are very circumstantial and don't really reflect player A against player M. If player A is a 5 star and player M is as well in another part of the country, both with state championship teams, it's hard to really compare them . So we are left with the assumption that both of them are pretty damn good players when player M may have been on a team in a conference where team A would have ran all over them. And when you say SEC competition. I won't start another pointless flame fest, but the conference is not as strong top to bottom as you think it is. It's like people think that nobody outside the south knows how to play football....

Was every player Fulmer recruited good enough for you?
So Fulmer never had a 3 star or lower ever turn out to be a good player? How about Al Wilson? I beleive he was a low 3 star? VA Tech kicked the crap out of us with a team loaded with 3 star talent. The 3 star tailback that ran all over us and the rest of the ACC last year was a 3 star. Stars don't mean squat other than it is an opinion of some guy who watched some film or maybe got to see a game of a kid and evaluate him. 0 stars means no evaluation. Evidently CDD and CCS did evaluate him and saw something that they liked. How is your evaluation coming?
And plenty of them sucked.
That's with any recruiting class in any team. You get a mixed bag . Look I'm not saying that ratings are moot and it doesn't matter , I'm saying that there isn't that much difference between the majority of 3stars vs 5 stars. There's just no consistent way of evaluating them. Hell the same player can have drastically different performance levels in the same season. Look at Travis Henry. There were times when he would hit the pile and immediately hit the ground and there were times when he would have run over a mack truck.
