New commitment!!!!

Dooley is either a recruiting genius or a complete imbecile. We'll have a better idea in February, and know for sure after a couple of years.

Can't judge on this class alone. And as far as the defense goes, the system affects a lot of what works and what is highly sought after... so we'll see.

Get more WRs like you are, and get some hogmollies who want to run the football.

Guys the stars will come we are picking up momentum now and once the seasons starts and the recruits see results on the field, some bigger names will follow. And all this 3* we have right now might be 4* by the time their senior season is over. So we might have 10 4* commits right now, just know that not all of the recruits are going to be rated 3* in jan. It's one thing to bit*h and complain about 3* in Jan. And Feb. But it's Aug,1st with good senior seasons a lot of them will be 4* by the time they sign on the dotted line. Good pick up CDD and CCS! Keep them coming!

IMO its easier to coach and teach someone that respects authority and they will try harder as to not disappoint those they respect. Respect=Good Character

I agree.

However, in regards to OL and DL, they are the hardest to "evaluate" by these recruiting sites.

Agreed. More of who the coaches see and like in this regard. Build up the lines, and some skill players who fit the system will start comin along. Everything's so much better with the trenches taken care of.

So let me get this straight. This guy isnt good enough for us, but some of you are concerned that he will decommit when Florida offers? Hmmm.

Why put 4 exclamation points for this guy? I'm going to lose it if we get one more pedestrian commit. Why are we accepting commits like this at this time of year? Last year ppl about lost it over the 2* LB commit from AL whose name escapes me right now; why are we stoked about this? It'd be one thing if we got a 4* JUCO DT, but seriously.

BB is proof that not every 5 star is a world beater and not every unranked player is a dud. They evaluated this kid and saw something that made them wanna use a scholarship on him. If you have evaluated him and found it to be bogus , please by all means share your expertise. I just had the impression the coaches knew what they were looking for. I understand your annoyance with ppl throwing around the !! too loosely , but don't fret if UT ends up with a class of 2 and 3 stars. They can be coached up more than people realize.

Uhh no, that would actually be a problem...

Based on that comparison he should be a 2 * instead of a 3 * for the star watches, which I am not one Thank God lol.

Hughes wasn't even ranked until we offered a week before NSD. Had he gone to camps he would've been a 4 star. Newberg said he was the best player in the state, even over Hightower.

Boise State didn't have too much trouble with that kinda talent....Utah wasn't loaded with 5 stars when they undressed Alabama in front of God and his children either.

Im not. They're the coaches, if they dont put an excellent product on the field, i'll be ready for a change again. Till then I trust their judgement.

With Chuck "The Sackman" Smith coaching this kid I'm not worried....if he didn't have the ability then this staff wouldn't have offered and excepted his verbal pledge.

See this is the thing: One game doesn't make a trend.

9 times out of 10, Alabama monkey stomps Utah and Oklahoma rapes Boise State.

Using one game as an example does nothing.

Where was all that Boise talent when they got exposed by Georgia in 05 or 06? (I can't remember the season)

Tennessee has to play 8 games a year against SEC competition, not one game every decade.

The only REAL indicator you can draw from the 'star system' employeed by the recruiting sites is that the teams that lead in recruiting are the teams that are competing at the highest levels of their conference or nationally.
Does that guarantee a kid is going to be a boom or bust because the sites have graded them so ? No. But collectively ...if you are not one of the top recruiters ...you would have to be a statistical anomaly to compete at the same level that the teams that are.
Given the level of recruits we are pulling in I think we are somewhere near #40 nationally in terms of recruiting . We had better hope we are an anomaly. Sure good coaches can coach kids up ...but more often than not , the level of athlete decide the coachs success. It is one thing for Airforce or Vandy or App State to pull off an upset ...but they do not do it weekly. Consistancy becomes an issue.
