New commit - OL Riley Locklear

For anyone that doesn't follow recruiting, OL doesn't always come with glitz and glamour.
The offer list includes FSU, OLE MISS,
California and Michigan state.
So no "omg!" But definitely a good pick up.

According to 24/7, we have 2 recruits listed as 4*......2. Same as Kentucky. Bama has 10, UGA has 9, and UF has 5. It's actually worse than a big yawn right now, it's a big dud.

Our recruiting pitch right now really depends on if we can put it all together on the field. A 1 or 2 loss season and I bet we see a whole slew of different names in this class.

By the way, your first sentence is a crock.

I said nothing about our recruiting class, I made a comment about this particular recruit being a decent pick up. If you want to spread your doom and gloom, do it on your own and leave my post the hell alone okay?

Cade Mays is a 5 star offensive lineman. If he stays healthy he may end up a top 10 player in the nation for the 2018 class.

This. There will be some culling done for sure in January. Not all of the commits will sign with Tennessee.....so long as we have a good year, which I am positive that we will.

Butch and company hasn't forgotten how to recruit. Those top rated classes where sold on early playing time and building a contender. The big names can and will flow in this class if we meet the expectations we're supposed to this fall.

I for one am tickled that a young man wants to commit to Tennessee, and I hope this one works out. However let's look at Saban for a moment, for the life of me I have no idea how he pulls in the players he does, its almost to the point of pathetic. Nevertheless even with his slight narcissistic personality he has for the last several years pulled in huge classes. I do not see any huge difference in his coaching compared to his opponents, he just lines up his best and goes at it, and his best has been 4 and 5 star recruits. I wish I could ignore recruitment rankings but honestly I believe it's a factor in our outcome, just my two cents, I do not chat much until closer to the season but this hit me to speak up. Anyway I hope this recruit is a hidden gem for the Vols.

Pretty good offer list. Not a bad get, looking at things with my orange glasses on I can see a lot of these 3 star guys we are getting being players who may not contribute early on, but will be here 4 years and by the time they are juniors and seniors being solid contributors.

Locklear was a coveted OL for both the Vols and Florida State. @UTCoachMahoney will be happy with this one.

This is were this site is kinda like being in middle school sometimes. Being a 3 star ESPECIALLY FOR OFFENSIVE LINEMAN (which is usually a development position) see our All SEC OL Wiesman..,is NOT a bad thing. Occasionally you'll have a 5 star OL than can jump in and start. BUT THATS NOT THE NORM. 3 star OL are perfectly ok. Look at his size and realize he can become a behemoth in time. Whew,,,my aching back.,,
